Disclosure Act Changes: Support from Volunteer Scotland
Throughout May, Volunteer Scotland is running a series of support sessions for local groups and organisations about the recent major changes to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme, as part of the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 which came into effect at the start of the month.
Firstport Information Sessions: Build It Application Process
Firstport is introducing a series of online information sessions to give an inside track of the Build It application process, with the next session taking place 10am – 11am, Thursday 29 May 2025, via MS Teams. These sessions will include a briefing on updated funding criteria, expert tips on the application, and a Q&A session to address any queries.

Volunteer Scotland has published their latest report, “The State of Scottish Volunteering: Insights from Volunteer Scotland’s Research”, based on their analysis of their 2024 research. Each piece of research has its own key findings, but also common themes and threads emerged across them, which the latest report has pulled together into 5 headlines.
Volunteer Opportunity: Wellbeing Scotland Trustee
Wellbeing Scotland is looking for a new Trustee to join their Board as they undergo a period of change. They are keen to hear from those with a passion for numbers, who could use this proficiency to support their financial planning and management. A background in accountancy is a bonus, but not a requirement.

Volunteer Scotland is running a series of training sessions that will cover an overview of the PVG Scheme, who can join the scheme, normal and incidental duties, as well as resources available.

Volunteer Scotland is running a series of informal online sessions to give groups and organisations the opportunity to chat with a member of their training team about the Disclosure Act and the recent changes. These sessions are free to attend, with no booking required; the next session takes place on Monday 5 May 2025: 2pm – 3pm.

Hays Travel Foundation Grants
The Hays Travel Foundation aims to create a brighter future for young people by supporting their development in education, poverty prevention, health, arts, culture, and sports. Registered charities can apply for grants to support their mission or specific projects. The deadline for applications ahead of this meeting is Sunday 22 June 2025.
B&Q Foundation Grants
The B&Q Foundation supports hundreds of registered charities across the UK every year, providing grants for a wide range of charities who are looking for funding to improve or develop spaces which benefit their local communities. This grant supports capital and revenue costs. Awards are up to £10,000 for building or indoor projects, and up to £5,000 for garden projects. The deadline for the current round is 6pm on Friday 9 May 2025.
