Pre-2020, work was being done to help set up a new Community Leadership Network, which would bring together the individuals and groups driving their communities forward. While plans for the network were paused due to COVID-19, Falkirk’s community leaders did not, and only continued to develop their skills and voice as they helped their communities through the pandemic.
As restrictions eased in 2022, and following on from the Lasting Leadership training (LLT) in May 2022, and again in February and March 2023, our team at CVS Falkirk are delighted to be able to facilitate this network as a space for community leaders to share their learning and experiences from throughout the pandemic, but also as an opportunity for:
- peer support
- mentorship
- training and development
- skills and knowledge sharing
- championing the local third sector
While the network is linked to the LLT, people do not need to have completed the LLT in order to become members of the network.
The delegate slides from the LLT sessions are available to view or download (linked for your convenience).

BEMIS is the national umbrella body supporting the development of the Ethnic Minorities Voluntary Sector in Scotland. BEMIS was established in 2001 to promote the interest of minority ethnic voluntary organisations, develop capacity and support inclusion and integration of ethnic minorities communities. It is a member-led and managed organisation with an elected board of directors.
The major aims and objectives of BEMIS are to represent and support the development of the ethnic minority voluntary sector across Scotland, and to support the diverse communities and individuals that this sector represents, especially those who are under- represented and disadvantaged. BEMIS aims to address inequalities by:
- empowering communities
- working towards an inclusive society by establishing structures, which recognise diversity and empowers ethnic minorities
- ensuring that they are fully recognised and supported as a valued part of the Scottish multicultural civic society

Falkirk Community Planning Partnership (CPP) is the collection of public, private, third and community sector organisations providing local services in Falkirk which serve the local community. It is required by the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 to publish a Local Outcomes Improvement Plan (LOIP), which identifies the greatest inequalities for Falkirk’s residents, and how services which make up the CPP, plan to tackle them.
The Falkirk Plan (2021 – 2030) was approved and published in October 2021, after a year-long development process which included a review of local data, extensive engagement with local residents, and a review of local policy and projects that impact the issues raised by local people.
Each of the third sector forums and networks facilitated by CVS Falkirk allows the third sector’s voices, issues, concerns and views to be raised within Community Planning in Falkirk District, and the priorities identified in the Falkirk Plan.
For further information, please visit the dedicated Falkirk CPP page.
