In addition to their new CBT for Menopause course, Falkirk’s Mental Health Association (FDAMH) is running the following courses: Promoting Better Sleep Course (free); SQA Accredited Level 8 COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills Course: a new weekend course (Fridays and Saturdays, March – June 2024), and online (via Zoom, Wednesdays January – August 2024).

Cancer Research UK Free Winter Awareness Services
While the Cancer Awareness Roadshow is closed for winter, Cancer Research UK’s (CRUK) Cancer Awareness Nurses continue to work with and support local groups, events and activities. They are available to visit groups and events Monday – Thursday during the winter months (December – March), either through virtual or in-person visits, and are keen to meet with groups and organisations operating across Falkirk District.
Poverty Alliance Annual Conference and AGM
The Poverty Alliance’s Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) takes place this year on Friday 24th November, 9:15am – 4pm at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. “#DrawingALine Under Poverty” will explore key aspects of the Minimum Income Guarantee (MIG), which aims “to provide everyone in Scotland with a minimum acceptable standard of living”.

“Celebrating Living Wage Week” Event in Edinburgh
There are still places available at Living Wage Scotland and the Poverty Alliance’s Living Wage Week lunchtime event, taking place next Wednesday 8th November, 12pm – 2pm, at the Grassmarket Community Project & Coffee Saints Café, 86 Candlemaker Row, Edinburgh, EH1 2QA. Registration and refreshments are available from 11:30am, with lunch provided from 1pm.
Free Falkirk Numeracy Courses Starting
Falkirk’s Community Learning and Development (CLD) team is delivering free practical numeracy courses for people aged 19 years old and over, who want to become more confident in handling numbers in their everyday life or improve their numeracy skills for employment or further education. Their next course begins on Tuesday 7th November, running for 6 weeks, 9:30am – 12:30pm at Grangemouth Municipal Chambers.
To Absent Friends Festival: Local Support from Compassionate Communities
To Absent Friends is a festival of storytelling and remembrance across Scotland for those who have passed away, taking place this year Wednesday 1st November – Tuesday 7th November. The Compassionate Communities team at Strathcarron Hospice is available to support community groups with their events and activities to remember loved ones, during and after the festival.
