Falkirk’s Community Learning and Development (CLD) team is delivering free practical numeracy courses for people aged 19 years old and over, who want to become more confident in handling numbers in their everyday life or improve their numeracy skills for employment or further education.
Their next course begins on Tuesday 7th November, running for 6 weeks, 9:30am – 12:30pm at Grangemouth Municipal Chambers, Bo’ness Road, Grangemouth, FK3 8AY, delivered by The Larder West Lothian. The course is aimed at those aged over 19 years old who find their lack of numeracy skills a barrier to applying for certain jobs or careers, or who are looking to upskill to develop their careers.
Other courses include first steps towards increased numeracy, building confidence provision at SCQF level 2, through to SCQF level 5 for people need a higher level of numeracy for work or career. The courses are designed to be practical, using real life examples based on the numbers people come across in their daily lives. Courses will use budgeting, personal finance, measurements, calculations, and percentages (amongst other), to help participants develop their numeracy skills for now and the future.
Courses can also be adapted to focus on the numbers that people need for work, at home or their interests, such as gardening, cooking, DIY, or independent living.
The courses are delivered as part of Multiply, a UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) adult numeracy programme.
