The deadline for Expressions of Interest (EOI) forms to Zero Waste Scotland’s Community Fridge Fund is this coming Sunday 29th October. The fund aims to give community groups, charities, and local businesses registered and operating in Scotland the power to tackle food waste and increase security by hosting a community fridge.

Scottish Government has launched a new consultation on the introduction of a new benefit to help older people with fuel costs, and are seeking people’s views. The deadline for responses is Monday 15th January 2024.

Safer and Empowered Communities Forum: November Meeting

VSCSF November Meeting
At the next Voluntary Sector Children’s Services Forum (VSCSF), members will hear from Mary Paige from Aberlour on the launch of Aberlour Falkirk Routes, and Norman Phillips from Barnardo’s about updates on multi-agency training. The Forum takes place online next Wednesday 1st November, 10am – 12pm, via Zoom.
New Living Wage Rates Announced
The Living Wage Foundation has announced the new real Living Wage rates, increasing to £12 in the UK and £13.15 for workers in London. This year the rate increased by 10% in the UK, reflecting high costs during the ongoing cost of living crisis. For further information, please visit the Living Wage Foundation website.
Musical Workshops Offer to Falkirk District Groups
Scottish charity, I Was Gonnae, is looking to hear from interested third sector groups in Falkirk District to support their clients in a 4 week course which introduces participants to the basics of music, such as chords, melodies, and lyrics, with the guidance of a professional musician. There is an offer to hold up to 7 workshops locally.
New CBT for Menopause Course
After the success of their Managing Menopause courses, Falkirk’s Mental Health Association (FDAMH) has launched a new “CBT for Menopuase” training course. The course is available for all adults (aged 16 years old and over); places are £75 each.
Dementia Workforce Webinar
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) and the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) have organised a webinar for all members of the dementia workforce in Scotland, including formal and informal (unpaid) caregivers, taking place on Wednesday 15th November, 2pm – 4:30pm, focusing on dementia care.
