“Ask Them About Suicide” Campaign
Winter can be a difficult time for anyone, for a number of reasons. SAMH’s new suicide prevention campaign, Ask Them About Suicide, aims to empower everyone to ask the question, “Are you thinking about suicide?” if worried about someone.
VSCSF December Update
There will be no meeting of the Voluntary Sector Children’s Services Forum (VSCSF) in December 2022. Our team will be in touch in the new year regarding meeting dates for 2023, along with opportunities to get involved with and support the forum.
The Fore Unrestricted Funding: Latest Round Opening Monday
Registrations for the Spring 2023 round of The Fore’s unrestricted funding open at 10am, this coming Monday 12th December. The Fore offers unrestricted grants of up to £30,000, spread over 12 months – 3 years. Please note that registrations for each round are capped, and are available on a first come, first served basis.
Garden Buddy Volunteers
Forth Environment Link (FEL) has launched Get Growing in Falkirk, a new project to promote local food growth through community growing projects. They are looking for Garden Buddy volunteers, who will be trained and matched with a local community growing project. Garden Buddies should have some food-growing skills and knowledge. The time commitment may vary; FEL estimates 6 hours per month throughout the growing season.
15th Grangemouth Scout Group Volunteers
15th Grangemouth Scout Group is looking towards reopening in January 2023, and are looking for volunteers to help run the group, including: Scout Leaders, Sectional Assistants, Executive Committee members (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Hall Convener and Quartermaster). 15th Grangemouth Scouts is the only Scout group in Grangemouth, and was the first group set up in the town, in 1909. The group’s hall is also incredibly historic, and rare.
Rewilding Britain Challenge Fund
Rewilding Britain has launched their new annual fund to support rewilding groups in addressing the climate crisis. £100,00 will be awarded every year to one large scale rewilding project which shows the maximum potential to upscale rewilding on land or at sea. The deadline for Expressions of Interest is Tuesday 17th January 2023.
Statement on Falkirk Council Strategic Property Review
Earlier this week, Falkirk Council announced that Councillors had agreed in principle to make 133 council-owned properties available for transfer to communities, over a phased approach, as part of their Strategic Property Review. Our team at CVS Falkirk is currently working on a programme of support for the local third sector and community groups around this.
Martha’s Pantry Open in Slamannan
Martha’s Pantry, a new community food provider, has opened in Slamannan. Based in Slamannan Community Centre, Bank Street, Slamannan, FK1 3EZ, Martha’s Pantry will be open every Wednesday. While the initial service will be by referral only, they hope to open to the whole community in the new year.
Limerigg’s Christmas Tree Light Up
Organised by Limerigg Action Group, Limerigg’s Christmas Tree Light Up will take place tomorrow, Saturday 10th December from 6:30pm, at Limerigg Village Hall, Slamannan Road, Limerigg, FK1 3BW. Everyone is welcome.
