Forth Environment Link (FEL) (in collaboration with Falkirk Council) has launched Get Growing in Falkirk, a new project to promote local food growth and enable growers and gardeners the opportunity to apply their skills and expertise in community growing projects.
They are looking for Garden Buddy volunteers, who will be trained and matched with a local community growing project.
As more and more local communities become interested in growing their own fruit and vegetables, Garden Buddies will help them develop their skills and confidence to do so. Garden Buddies should have some food-growing skills and knowledge, and be interested in sharing this with local community gardens. Full training and support will be given to help and advise community gardens, giving them the best chance of success throughout the season.
The time commitment may vary; FEL estimates 6 hours per month throughout the growing season.
