Care with Confidence and Information Afternoons Restarting
Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre is bringing back their Care with Confidence sessions, and Information Afternoons for Professionals, with dates announced through to March.
New Denny Place Profile
A new pilot place profile for Denny has been launched, with notes on the area’s history, environment, people and infrastructure. The profile provides resources which could be used by communities looking to prepare their own local place plans.
Children (Care and Justice) (Scotland) Bill
The Children (Care and Justice) (Scotland) Bill aims to ensure no child aged under 18 years old will be sent to a young offenders institution. Introduced to Scottish Parliament last month, the Bill is designed to improve experiences and outcomes for children, by diverting them away from the criminal courts.
SRN Recovery Conversation Cafés: Self-Harm Support Services
Scottish Recovery Network (SRN) is holding recovery conversation cafés throughout February (both online and in-person) to explore how services and support for people affected by self-harm can be improved. SRN is looking to hear from people who are willing to share their experiences of self-harm support, as well as people, services and organisations who provide support.
ENABLE Travel Training Programme Launching
ENABLE Scotland’s new travel training programme (in partnership with Smarter Choices, Smarter Places), ENABLE Travel, launches on Tuesday 17th January. The training programme aims to help people, aged 16 years old and over, and who have a learning disability, to develop confidence and capability using public transport.
Falkirk Council Strategic Property Review Consultation Survey and Events
Following Falkirk Council’s announcement that Councillors had agreed in principle to make 133 council-owned properties available for transfer to communities, they have now opened public consultation with an online survey. The council is also holding a number of consultation events in local communities, with the first taking place next Tuesday 10th January, 12pm – 2pm, at Slamannan Library, High Street, Slamannan, FK1 3EX. For anyone unable to attend their local event, there is also an online event taking place Wednesday 25th January, 7pm – 9pm.
BBC Children in Need Scotland Advisory Committee Members
BBC Children in Need is seeking new volunteer members for their Scotland Advisory Committee, along with a new Vice-Chair. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 9th January 2023.
Rebooting Resilience Online Survey for Falkirk Third Sector
The Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) is working in partnership with Falkirk Council to learn about community resilience as part of the “Rebooting Resilience” project. Via an online survey, they are looking to hear from the local third sector, and its volunteers, to find out what works well regarding resilience.
Falkirk Town Centre AQMA Update
Falkirk Council has announced its intention to revoke the Falkirk Town Centre Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) for particulate matter (PM10) only, in exercise of powers conferred upon it by Section 83(1) of the Environment Act 1995. The deadline for responses is Friday 23rd December.
