Froglife Volunteer Session
Froglife is holding a volunteer session on Saturday 1st February, 11am – 12:30pm at the Kinneil Local Nature Reserve, Snab Lane, Bo’ness, EH51 0PS. During the session, participants and the Froglife team will work together to restore and enhance a pond in the nature reserve. No previous experience is necessary and tools are provided, but participants should wear suitable clothing and wellies or other stout footwear.
ALLIANCE “Future Delivery of Social Care” Consultation Event
The Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (ALLIANCE) has announced that they will be running a consultation event on Tuesday 11th February from 2:45pm at their office in the Venlaw Building, 349 Bath Street, Glasgow, G2 4AA. The event is in response to Scottish Parliament’s Health and Sport Committee’s inquiry on the future delivery of social care in Scotland, and what is required to meet future needs (closing on Thursday 20th February).

New Venue for Upcoming Key Processes In Child Protection Training
Falkirk Child Protection Committee has confirmed a new location for its upcoming Key Processes in Child Protection training courses, due to take place February – June 2020. The courses will now take place at the Dawson Centre, David’s Loan, Falkirk FK2 7RG, due to the ongoing closure of Camelon Community Education Centre.
Survey on Children and Young People’s Participation in Decision-Making
Scottish Government has released an online survey regarding children and young people’s participation in decision-making, as part of their requirements and commitments under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014. They are seeking views from professionals who engage with children and young people, to gain an insight into how they work with children and young people and support them to participate in decision-making, and what barriers they have experienced. The deadline for responses is Friday 7th February.
Call for Parallel and Spotlight Sessions Bids at NHS Scotland Event 2020
Organisers of the NHS Scotland Event 2020 are inviting bids for both Parallel and Spotlight Sessions, which feature during breakout time slots in the Event Programme. The Event takes place on Wednesday 24th June and Thursday 25th June at the Scottish Events Campus (SEC) in Glasgow, providing an opportunity to bring together those committed to health and social care provision. The deadline for bids is 5pm on Tuesday 4th February.
Young Carers Awareness Day 2020
The annual Young Carers Awareness Day, led by Carers Trust, takes place on Thursday 30th January this year. Through their “Count Me In!” campaign for 2020, Carers Trust is calling on compulsory education providers to do more to proactively identify young carers and to ensure that they receive the recognition and support they deserve. Carers Trust has also launched online resources to help people plan how they can get involved and how to campaign for greater support for young carers and their needs.
Holocaust Memorial Day Commemorative Event
The Central Scotland Regional Equality Council (CSREC), along with various partners, are holding a free commemorative event for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day, which marks the 75th anniversary of the closing of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. The event takes place next Wednesday 29th January, 7pm – 9pm at Falkirk Library, Hope Street, Falkirk, FK1 5AU, and will include the lighting of a memorial candle.
