On Wednesday 1st February, Voluntary Health Scotland (VHS) is hosting “Engaging in Effective Community Advocacy”, an online interactive workshop on community advocacy in public health and health inequalities. New Charities (Scotland) Bill: SCVO Online Survey
As a result of the Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Bill being introduced to Scottish Parliament in November 2022, the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) has created a short online survey to gather the sector’s views. The deadline for responses is Friday 27th January.
Care with Confidence Tuesday Sessions
Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre has announced further Care with Confidence sessions for unpaid carers, taking place Tuesdays, 10:30am – 12:30pm. Carers can attend via Zoom or in-person at the Carers Centre, on: Tuesday 24th January: “Strathcarron History, Stories and Events”; Tuesday 31st January: “Epilepsy Awareness”; Tuesday 7th February: “Technology Enabled Care (TEC)”.
Cost of Living Crisis Quarterly Bulletin
Volunteer Scotland has produced the first of 3 Quarterly Bulletins which aim to track the impact of the cost of living crisis on people and third sector organisations (TSOs) in Scotland. The bulletin emphasises key trend data, drawing out the implications for volunteering and volunteers over the last 12 months.
FDAMH COSCA Counselling Skills Course
Falkirk’s Mental Health Association (FDAMH) will deliver the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills course, starting on Friday 17th February, with all training sessions being held in-person at the FDAMH premises on Fridays and Saturdays. The cost of the course is £1,300 or £1,400.
“Steps to Resilience” Referrals Open for Young People
Link Living has announced the details of their next Steps to Resilience course, aimed at young people in Falkirk aged 16 – 24 years old. The course will run from Link Academy in Falkirk every Monday and Tuesday, 10am – 2pm, for 10 weeks from on Monday 30th January.
Sustrans Active Travel Webinars to Support Communities
The Sustrans communities team has developed a series of free interactive webinars exploring how active travel can help address some of the pressing issues faced by communities, on: Wednesday 25th January, 10:30am – 12pm: Cost of Living, Community and Active Travel; Wednesday 22nd February, 10:30am – 12:30pm: Climate, Community and Active Travel; Wednesday 29th March, 10:30am – 12:30pm: Cars, Community and Active Travel.
“Healthy Minds, Inspiring People” Places Available
Fedcap Scotland has a few spaces remaining on their Falkirk health project, “Healthy Minds, Inspiring People”, which is due to start next week, week commencing Monday 23rd January. The 8 week programme is aimed at people aged 18 – 30 years old, who have learning difficulties and disabilities, and experience mental health challenges.

Due to popular demand, we are delighted to announce we have added another date to our “An Informed Choice: Community Asset Transfer” online sessions, on Monday 20th February, 12:30pm – 1:30pm. Taking place via Zoom, the session is open to third sector organisations and groups across Falkirk and District, as part of our support to the local third sector and communities around the recently announced Strategic Property Review.

Firstport has announced the first Catalyst Fund information webinars of 2023, taking place on Tuesday 24th January, Friday 24th February, and Friday 24th March. All webinars begin at 10am, and take place via Zoom.
