15th Grangemouth Scout Group is looking towards reopening in January 2023, and are looking for volunteers to help run the group, including:
- Scout Leaders – giving a regular commitment to work with the group’s young people week by week. (Please note, “regular” does not necessarily mean every week, eg. a shift worker might be able to commit every second week, or an offshore worker might be available one month and not the next).
- Sectional Assistants – working with young people either on a regular or occasional basis
- Executive Committee members, including Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Hall Convener and Quartermaster – along with the Group Scout Leader, the Executive Committee is responsible for the management of the Group, including the running of the hall and ensuring that there is sufficient equipment for the sections to operate.
- They would be keen to hear from anyone with interest in applying for grants, a qualification in an outdoor activity, or current and retired tradespeople able to offer their time.
Most roles require a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check and some initial training, which will be provided.
15th Grangemouth Scouts is the only Scout group in Grangemouth, and was the first group set up in the town, in 1909. The group’s hall in Peddie Place is also incredibly historic, and rare – formed of 2 railway carriages from the 1920s, and possibly the last in Scotland.
