Our team at CVS Falkirk & District had a fantastic few days at the Forth Valley Third Sector Conference, culminating with the in-person day yesterday at Inglewood House in Alloa. Community Wealth Building Legislation: SES Sessions
Social Enterprise Scotland’s (SES) second online session on Scottish Government’s consultation on Community Wealth Building (CWB) legislation takes place on Monday 27th March, 12:30pm – 2pm. One of a 3 part series of sessions on the consultation, this session is designed as an informal space for people to share their views and experiences, which will inform and shape SES’ consultation response.
“A Green Way to Save”: Drop-in Event for Falkirk Businesses
With their partners, Forth Environment Link (FEL) is holding “A Green Way to Save” for Falkirk District-based businesses (including social enterprises!), on Monday 20th March, 9:30am – 2pm. The drop-in event takes place at Falkirk Business Hub, 45 Vicar Street, Falkirk, FK1 1LL, with tips, resources and workshops on making a climate-friendly impact through business, while saving money in the process.
Participants Needed: Research on Impact of COVID-19 on Older People
The University of St. Andrews is looking for participants (aged over 60 years old) to take part in a PhD (doctoral-level) research project about the direct and indirect consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on older people’s wellbeing. The deadline for participating is Sunday 30th April.
Braveheart Volunteer Open Day
The Braveheart Association is holding a Volunteer Open Day on Wednesday 5th April, 10am – 2pm, at the Braveheart Connections Hub (the old TSB unit) in the Howgate Shopping Centre, High Street, Falkirk, FK1 1HG. The event is a drop-in, with no booking required; everyone is welcome. Anyone interested in volunteering with Braveheart can learn more about the roles they have available.
Volunteer Scotland Return to In-person Training
From April, Volunteer Scotland is returning to in-person training at their Stirling office in Jubilee House, Forthside Way, Stirling, FK8 1QZ. Each quarter, they will also host an online session, with a different topic for each.
Social Isolation and Loneliness Fund 2023
The Social Isolation and Loneliness Fund 2023 – 2026 is now open for Expression of Interest applications (Stage 1). Funded activity should take place between Tuesday 1st August 2023 – Friday 31st July 2026. Grants of up to £72,000 are available across the full fund period. The deadline for Expressions of Interest is Friday 31st March.
“Creating Hope with Peer Support” Programme
The Scottish Recovery Network (SRN) has developed a new programme of work to build peer support capacity to provide timely, appropriate and compassionate support to people affected by suicide. They are looking to work closely with existing community-based support.
New St Andrew’s First Aid Training Venue in Falkirk
St Andrew’s First Aid has announced 2 new Training Venues: one in Hamilton, and one here in Falkirk, at Falkirk Stadium, 4 Stadium Way, Falkirk, FK2 9EE.
Falkirk Town Centre AQMA (for PM10) Revoked
As a result of the consultation process, the Falkirk Town Centre Quality Management AQMA (for PM10 only) has now been revoked.
