To mark Autism Acceptance Week 2023 this week, Scottish Government has launched stage 2 of their Different Minds campaign: Autism and the Social Rulebook, which has been created and produced in partnership with autistic people. Alongside the new film Marion and the Social Rulebook, the campaign includes an eBook.

Flippin’ Fibromyalgia: Online Support Webinar
Flippin’ Pain, in partnership with Pain Concern, will hold a free online webinar for anyone in Scotland living with fibromyalgia (and their friends and families), on Tuesday 25th April, 4pm – 5:30pm: “Flippin’ Fibromyalgia”.
Dial a Journey Spring Excursions
Dial a Journey is running Spring Excursions throughout April (brochure linked for your convenience), with upcoming trips including: Monday 10th April: Anstruther Harbour; Wednesday 12th April: Kelvingrove Art Museum, Glasgow; Friday 14th April: House of Bruar, Pitlochry. They will also soon be announcing their 8 week schedule for the summer months. Excursions are £15 per member.
Volunteers’ Week 2023 in Falkirk
It’s that time of year again where our team at CVS Falkirk starts planning for Volunteers’ Week (Thursday 1st June – Wednesday 7th June), where we celebrate all the volunteers throughout Falkirk District who go above and beyond to help others. This year, we’ve exciting plans in the works, including the return of Celebrating Volunteering Certificates and Volunteer Awards, plus a special photo display and the chance to join us at the very start of the week, Thursday 1st June, for Picnic in the Park!
CVS Falkirk Holiday Weekend Hours
The CVS Falkirk team are off Friday 7th April and Monday 10th April for the holiday weekend, and will return to work the morning of Tuesday 11th April. While this is a bank holiday weekend, we recognise that for many of our friends and colleagues of faith, it is also a significant time in their calendars. However you celebrate, we would like to wish you all the very best at this time.
The Big Help Out Launched
The Big Help Out launched across the UK this week. It was announced in January 2023 as a National Day of Volunteering, taking place on Monday 8th May, the Bank Holiday Monday of the King’s Coronation weekend. Our team at CVS Falkirk & District will be publishing information on how to get involved locally, across the wider Falkirk area, in due course.
Forth Valley Input: Planned Care Waiting Times Guidance Review
Healthcare Improvement Scotland – Community Engagement (HIS-CE) has been asked by Scottish Government to gather people’s views on the proposed policy changes being suggested as part of the review of the Planned Care Waiting Times Guidance. HIS-CE is looking to speak with 6 or 7 people from Forth Valley. The deadline for taking part is Friday 14th April.
SFRS Fire Safety During the Cost of Living Crisis
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) wants to make sure that everyone stays fire-safe during the period of financial difficulty related to the cost of living crisis, and are providing safety advice as well as FREE Home Fire Safety Visits.
Bringing Composting to Life Online Event
Food for Life Get Togethers has partnered with The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS) on helping people and organisations make their own compost. “Bringing Composting to Life” is a free online event, taking place next Thursday 30th March, 10am – 11am. The event will cover how to set up and start traditional and bokashi composting projects in local communities.
Emergency Alert System Testing
Scottish Government is participating in a 3 month trial of a new UK Government Emergency Alert system, launching on Sunday 19th March 2023. The first national test will take place on Sunday 23rd April 2023. This test will ensure the technology operates as intended, and alert messages are received by all compatible handsets.
