Scottish Government and COSLA have published the Creating Hope Together Suicide Prevention Action Plan for 2026–29, the next phase of Scotland’s long‑term strategy to reduce suicide and improve support for those affected.
Freedom of Information Act Extension Consultation
Scottish Government has opened a new public consultation seeking views on whether Scotland’s Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) should be extended to cover private and third sector providers of care home and “care at home” services. The consultation is open until Monday 30 March 2026.
“Wave after Wave” Suicide Bereavement Training
Staff and volunteers across Falkirk District are invited to take part in a new face-to-face learning opportunity being rolled out across Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). The aim of the training is to ensure that anyone meeting people bereaved by suicide has a strong understanding of the complex nature and impact of suicide bereavement, and feels confident in providing a compassionate, empathetic response. The Falkirk training takes place on Thursday 19 February 2026 and Wednesday 22 April 2026.
Falkirk District Older People’s Network: March 2026 Meeting
CVS Falkirk & District invites people to the next Falkirk District Older People’s Network (OPN) meeting, taking place on Thursday 5 March 2026, 10am – 12pm at 1st Falkirk Scout Hall. We are delighted to welcome Doug Anthoney, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Age Scotland, who will lead on an interactive session exploring how community groups and services can encourage and support older people to stay healthy and active. This meeting will also include the Falkirk OPN Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Fully Funded Training Available Through CVS Falkirk & District
Fully funded training opportunities are available through CVS Falkirk & District’s Empowering Communities Programme in February and March 2026. There is no cost to third sector groups or organisations to attend, however places must be booked in advance.
Free Sensory Awareness Workshops Available
Forth Valley Sensory Centre is offering free Sensory Awareness Workshops designed to help young people better understand sight and hearing loss. Through hands-on activities, games and open discussion, the sessions aim to help young people explore the everyday realities of sensory loss, discover helpful tools and support, and learn how small adaptations can make a big difference.
Free “Brainstorm Your Brand Comms” Workshop
Adam Piggot will be running a free, online, half-day workshop for social impact organisations in Scotland (including the third sector) on Thursday 26 February, 9:30am – 12pm, via Zoom. “Brainstorm Your Brand Comms” will cover a range of brand communication, such as brand and communication strategies, community and media engagement, fundraising, content (including written and photo promotions), and assets like websites, social media, and publications.
Safer Internet Day 2026 Resources
The UK Safer Internet Centre has launched new educational resources on the safe and responsible use of AI, ahead of Safer Internet Day 2026, taking place on Tuesday 10 February 2026. The resources are designed for children and young people aged 3 – 18 years old, with tailored packs for different age groups. Each pack includes presentation slides and practical activities.
