The Grangemouth Mental Health Peer Support Group is a new free group taking place every second Tuesday, 6:30pm – 8:30pm at the Grangemouth Railway Club, Barrie Place, Grangemouth, FK3 8QY; the next meeting will be on Tuesday 27th February.

Agnes Hunter Trust: Volunteer Board Trustee
The Agnes Hunter Trust SCIO is an independent charitable trust based in Edinburgh. They offer grants to registered charities in Scotland which specifically support disabled people. They are currently looking for a committed volunteer with direct working knowledge of the third sector to join their Board. The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 4th March.
Anniversary Spotlight: Falkirk Funders Fayre 2024
We might have mentioned before that this year’s Falkirk Funders Fayre is the TENTH ANNIVERSARY event – but did you know that some funders have attended almost every year to support Falkirk District’s third sector? Next month, on Tuesday 19th March, we’ll welcome 24 funders to Bowhouse Community Centre, with 10 of them having attended the very first event in 2014!
LNER Changes to Scottish Services Consultation
London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is consulting on a number of changes to their Scottish services, which would affect the Falkirk Grahamston station. Proposed changes would include removing the 5:47am southbound departure from Falkirk Grahamston, and the 7:58pm northbound arrival, in order to provide a more sustainable and reliable service. The deadline for responses is Monday 18th March.
Scottish Mental Health First Aid: New Training Dates
Falkirk’s Health Improvement Service has announced new training dates for the Scotland’s Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) course, taking place 9:30 am – 4:30pm on Tuesday 5th March and Wednesday 6th March. The 2 day course is open to any staff and volunteers who live or work in the Falkirk District who want to help someone with mental health problems, whether in a professional or personal capacity.
Carers Centre Upcoming Professional Information Afternoon
Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre’s next Professionals Information Afternoons take place 2pm – 4:30pm on Wednesday 21st February and Wednesday 20th March. Sessions are held via Zoom and in-person at the Carers Centre, 1A Bank Street, Falkirk, FK1 1NB, giving attendees the choice to attend virtually or not.
NHS Forth Valley New Equality Objectives Questionnaire and Events
NHS Forth Valley’s Equality and Diversity team is currently working towards developing their new Equality Objectives for April 2024 – April 2025, and has opened a short online questionnaire to gather as many response from local people as possible. They will also be holding 2 drop-in Engagement Events, taking place on Tuesday 20th February, 5pm – 7pm and Thursday 22nd February, 11am – 2pm. The deadline for responses is Thursday 29th February.
Seagull Trust Cruise Bookings Open
Falkirk Seagull Trust cruise bookings are now open for 2024. Cruises sail the Union Canal and Falkirk Wheel, between Monday 1st April – Friday 11th October. The majority of cruises last 2 hours, with a number travelling to the Falkirk Wheel.
Scottish Charity Awards 2024: Applications and Nominations Open
Applications are now open for the Scottish Charity Awards 2024. The awards are designed to celebrate the best of the third sector. Run by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), the awards are open to nominations for and applications from registered charities, social enterprises, community and voluntary groups, and volunteers. The deadline for applications and nominations is 12pm on Friday 15th March.
Yarn Bombers Group Meeting
The yarn bombers of Falkirk town centre, the Bairns Bombers, now has now a regular group meet-up, with everyone welcome to attend and take part in sewing and yarning projects. The next group meeting will take place on Thursday 29th February from 1pm, in the old HBSC building, now the FirstLight Trust Veterans’ Hub, 74 High Street, Falkirk, FK1 1HG.
