Falkirk Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) has launched a service to help people in Falkirk make their Universal Credit (UC) claim and ensure they get their first payment on time and in full. People who need help making a claim can access the service by phone (Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm): 0800 023 2581, or via the online service, 8 am – 6pm.

LinkLiving Summer Club 2022
LinkLiving has announced they will be running their Summer Club again this year for young people aged 14 – 19 years old, living in Falkirk. Beginning Thursday 7th July, the Summer Club will run every Thursday and Friday throughout the summer, offering a range of activities from cooking, arts and crafts, team building and the use of technology.
Falkirk Sewing Studio CIC Summer Classes
Falkirk Sewing Studio CIC, a local social enterprise, has announced their Summer Classes for children (aged 6 – 12 years old) and young people (aged 13 – 16 years old). Classes include sewing and crochet lessons, and will run for a week each over afternoons throughout July. Classes for young people are £65 per place, while children’s sewing classes are £59, and children’s crochet classes are £49.
Scottish Ambulance Service 2030 Strategy Survey
The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) is currently in the process of developing their 2030 Strategy, and are seeking views before its finalisation, via an online survey. The deadline for responses is 11:59pm on Sunday 3rd July.
Census Coverage Survey Launched
The National Records of Scotland has launched the short Census Coverage Survey (CCS) for Scotland’s recent 2022 Census. A number of postcodes have been selected across Scotland to take part in the CCS, including some in the Falkirk district.
Planned Closure of COVID-19 Special Helpline
NHS 24 has announced the planned closure of its COVID-19 special helpline. From 4pm on next Thursday 30th June, the helpline will formally close. This is due to the changes in guidance in terms of public-wide testing, and staying at home advice.
Grangemouth Flood Protection Scheme Drop-In Session
The Grangemouth Flood Protection Scheme (GFPS) covers Grangemouth, Wholeflats, Glensburgh, Langlees, Carron, Carronshore and Stirling Road, Camelon. The project team is holding their next mobile drop-in sessions on Tuesday 28th June, 10am – 3:30pm, at the Klondyke Garden Centre, Beancross Road, Grangemouth, FK2 0XS.

CVS Falkirk is holding a drop-in “Welcome to Falkirk” event on Saturday 2nd July, 12pm – 2pm, at the Callandar Square, High Street, Falkirk, FK1 1JN, to welcome people new to the local area and show them what support, services and activities are available from the third sector in Falkirk.
Business Support for the Third Sector: Notice and Survey
Scottish Government is gathering views on the re-procurement of its third sector business support services contract, with a short online survey. The current contract expires in May 2023 and Scottish Government will be inviting tenders for a new contract during 2022. The deadline for survey responses is next Friday 24th June.
The Road to Recovery Report
Volunteer Scotland’s “The Road to Recovery” report is now available to read and download. The report explores the actual and projected impact of COVID-19 on volunteering in Scotland during the pandemic and over the longer term, with research evidence being drawn from the period March 2020 – August 2021.
