The National Records of Scotland has launched the short Census Coverage Survey (CCS) for Scotland’s recent 2022 Census.
The CCS is a key part of Scotland’s Census. It has been used since 2001 to help estimate how many households and people have not returned a census form, or who have been counted twice.
This is done by identifying how many households have been:
- counted in both the census and the CCS
- counted in the census only
- counted in the CCS only
This work helps add to the census returns to provide a more accurate estimate of Scotland’s population, and its people’s needs.
A number of postcodes have been selected across Scotland to take part in the CCS, including some in the Falkirk district.
CCS interviewers are working across the local area to help fill in the questionnaire on doorsteps. They will be wearing ID badges, but anyone who would rather speak to a census advisor about the CSS remotely can contact the census helpline by freephone: 0800 033 4010.
The helpline is open Monday – Friday, 8am – 8pm, and Saturday – Sunday, 9am – 4pm, and can also provide over the phone translation support to help complete the CSS.
