Falkirk Council’s community wide campaign Take the Right Route has relaunched. The free campaign rewards participants, through the BetterPoints app, for engaging in a more active and sustainable lifestyle by choosing to walk, run, wheel, cycle and take public transport more often. Participants earn points for their activities, which can then be redeemed with local businesses

Business in the Community Support for Organisations
Business in the Community is running a new Skills Exchange programme, which offers one to one Skilled Business Volunteer Support, providing volunteers with a wide variety of skills. There is no limit to the number of requests that can be made by one organisation. Business in the Community is also delivering a series of 3 event webinars, which take place on Tuesday 5th July, Wednesday 13th July, and Tuesday 19th July.
New Date: “Managing and Preventing Harmful Sexual Behaviour” Training
NHS Forth Valley, Clackmannanshire Council, and Stirling Council have organised a new date for the “Managing and Preventing Harmful Sexual Behaviour in young people” training, taking place via Teams on Tuesday 12th July, 1pm – 3pm. This replaces the cancelled session on Tuesday 14th June.
Community Justice Research Launch Event
Community Justice Scotland (CJS) and Scottish Community Safety Scotland (SCSS) are undertaking joint research on the role of joint working arrangements to support community justice and community safety in some Local Authority areas. They will hold a launch event on Monday 11th July, 2pm – 3pm, where participants can learn more about the findings of the research and have the opportunity to ask questions.
Forth Valley Flyers Taster Session
Forth Valley Flyers – our 2022 Volunteer-Involving Organisation of the Year! – are holding their annual track and field championships on Sunday 10th July, 10am – 2:30pm at Grangemouth Stadium, Kersiebank Avenue, Grangemouth, FK3 0BS. They will then have a taster session for new members with a physical disability, who are interested in joining and becoming members, from 2:30pm.
Quiet Waters Volunteers
Quiet Waters currently has a number of volunteer opportunities available, including: Chair of the Board (with a time commitment of 3 – 4 hours per week, plus Board meetings); bereavement listeners (training provided); admin and clerical volunteer for 2 – 3 hours per week; gardener volunteer.
National Suicide Prevention Action Plan Youth Advisory Group
A new national young people’s advisory group has been launched, to help make sure young people’s views are heard directly by decision makers, acting as an advisory group for the National Suicide Prevention Leadership Group (NSPLG). The group is aimed at young people who have tried to take their own life, or who have suicidal thoughts. It is also for people who have experienced suicide and those who experience from poor mental health.
LinkLiving Volunteer Board Chair
LinkLiving is currently looking to recruit a volunteer Board Chair who shares their vision and values and who has the energy, passion and skills to drive forward a successful and dynamic future for the charity. The deadline for applications is Thursday 30th June.
Falkirk Local Housing Strategy 2023 – 2028 Survey
Falkirk Council is currently working on a new Local Housing Strategy (LHS) to cover the period 2023 – 2028. They would like to hear from as wide a range of local people as possible in order to include their priorities for local housing in the new strategy. To gather these views, Falkirk Council has launched an online survey, which is open to a range of local groups and individuals. The deadline for responses is Sunday 31st July.
“Care With Confidence: Frontotemporal Dementia” Session
Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre has announced their next “Care With Confidence: Frontotemporal Dementia” session, which takes place on Wednesday 13th July, 10:30am – 12pm. This group is specifically for carers who care for someone living with Frontotemporal Dementia, and is a blended session.
