Supported by Children in Scotland, a new national young people’s advisory group has been launched, to help make sure young people’s views are heard directly by decision makers, and influence government policy, acting as an advisory group for the National Suicide Prevention Leadership Group (NSPLG).
The group is aimed at young people who have tried to take their own life, or who have suicidal thoughts. It is also for people who have experienced suicide and those who experience from poor mental health. (Please note that due to the sensitive nature of this project, for young people who have experienced a loss due to suicide, 2 years must have passed from this loss for them to be eligible to participate.)
Meetings will be online and in-person, and are designed to be relaxed and engaging, while giving participants an opportunity to meet new people and share their views.
Further information on the group is available in the Information Sheet.
To get involved, young people should send the following information to Children in Scotland by email: cross@childreninscotland.org.uk
- Name
- Age
- Where in Scotland they live
- Why is it important that the views of children and young people with lived experience are considered by decision-makers, including the NSPLG?
- What do they like doing in their spare time, and why?
