Water Safety Open Day Event
Water Safety Scotland and The Helix are hosting a free Water Safety Open Day event, to help people learn about water safety in a fun and interactive way. The drop-in event takes place on Monday 25th July, 11am – 3pm, and is open to everyone, with no booking required. There will also be interactive information stalls, opportunity to win a Fitbit Versa and Decathlon vouchers on the day.
ASP Walk: Samaritans Talk To Us
Falkirk Council’s Adult Support and Protection (ASP) team, along with Falkirk Samaritans and Stenhousemuir Football Club, is holding another ASP Walk on Thursday 21st July, 9:45am – 12pm to support Samaritans’ “Talk To Us” campaign. Everyone is welcome to join the leisurely walk, led by the Falkirk Rangers Service.
Recruiting with Convictions Training
As part of Scotland Works for You, Volunteers Scotland Disclosure Services is offering Recruiting with Convictions training sessions from Thursday 14th July. This training aims to provide participants the opportunity to address any concerns they have in recruiting a volunteer with an existing criminal record.
PVG Scheme and Signatories Training In-Person Training Resumed
Volunteer Scotland has announced that in-person Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and signatory training sessions have resumed at their office in Stirling. This course is for signatories enrolled with Disclosure Services, and will cover everything they will need to know, including an introduction to the PVG legislation. Capacity has been reduced to 10 people per course.
Volunteer Scotland Code of Practice Update
Volunteer Scotland has updated their Code of Practice, which includes information, advice, guidance and instructions to those that are accessing Disclosure checks. The Code intends to ensure information is used lawfully and provide assurance to those applying for a Disclosure request.

Forth Environment Link (FEL) is looking for NHS staff to volunteer as Walking Ambassadors. The role is designed to suit someone who is passionate about sharing their positive experiences with walking and supporting others who are at the start of their walking journey.
easyfundraising App Update
easyfundraising has redeveloped and updated their fundraising app in order to make it easier for people to support good causes as they shop. The app enables people to raise money for third sector groups and organisations when they shop on their phone or tablet.
Let’s Do Net Zero Community Buildings Fund Now Open
Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) has relaunched the Let’s Do Net Zero Community Buildings Fund. Managed by Local Energy Scotland, the fund focuses on decarbonising heat in community buildings and reducing community organisations’ energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions, and will run until March 2025; applications can be made at any time. Funding is available for many types of self-managed community buildings, up to 80% of eligible costs, to a maximum of £80,000.

NHS Forth Valley and their partners have updated the Falkirk Mental Health and Wellbeing Resources leaflet, which they encourage people to share as widely as possible. The leaflet details support and resources available in Falkirk for people who need it, even temporarily.
