NEW Falkirk Third Sector Forums Launched
We are delighted to announce that we are relaunching our Falkirk Third Sector Forums and Networks, after a period of paring these back to focus on our Third Sector COVID-19 Response Forum, and meet the needs of the sector and communities throughout the pandemic. We believe that now is the time to diversify our Forums and Networks to make space for more targeted and in-depth discussion, planning and organising as we seek to tackle these issues as a sector, and with our partners. The first meeting of the Health and Wellbeing Forum will take place on Wednesday 7th September, 10am – 12pm, online via Zoom.
Opportunity to Take Part: #OneManWalkingAMillionTalking
A local Forth Valley man is walking the length of Britain to raise awareness of suicide, suicide prevention and postvention. People are welcome to join him on his walk and open a national conversation about suicide; the walk will pass through Forth Valley next week: Monday 8th August: Linlithgow to Kilsyth; Tuesday 9th August: Kilsyth to Drymen; Thursday 11th August: Drymen to Inversnaid.
Community Active Travel Support Service
Sustrans Scotland has launched a new programme, the Community Active Travel Support Service (CATSS). The service is open to organisations looking to set up a new active travel project, working in SIMD 1-2 areas, or with people and communities who experience inequality.
Encouraging Grassroots Activity Fund
Age Scotland has launched their new fund, Encouraging Grassroots Activity. The fund is aimed at smaller, grassroots organisations and groups looking to provide community-led support for people affected by dementia. A total of £145,921 of funding is available; applicants can apply for awards of £5,000 – £20,000. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Wednesday 24th August.
LAST CHANCE: Scottish Governance Code for the Third Sector Review
The review of the Scottish Governance Code for the Third Sector closes TODAY, Friday 5th August. Via an online survey, Scotland’s Third Sector Governance Forum is seeking views from all third sector organisations, whether they have or have not used the Code in their organisation, in order to inform recommended improvements for a refreshed Code.
Adult Cancer Patients Consent Forms Survey
National Services Scotland (NSS) is looking to collect the views of adult systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) patients, and has designed an online survey via Microsoft Forms. The survey is part of work to shape the future of consent forms for cancer treatments going forward. The deadline for responses is Wednesday 31st August.
Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy Consultation Events
As part of their consultation on the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy for Scotland, Scottish Government is holding events throughout August and September for anyone interested in speaking directly with their team about their views, with the next on Monday 8th August, 10am – 12pm.
EU Citizens’ Rights in Scotland: New Translated Factsheets
The Citizens Rights Project has developed 7 new factsheets in different languages to help EU citizens access their rights in Scotland. The factsheets use simple, accessible language to explain a number of essential rights for EU migrants, and how they can be accessed, along with resources for further support and guidance.
New Forth Valley Service for Osteoporosis
A new service has recently been launched by NHS Forth Valley for people living with Osteoporosis. It provides bone density (DXA) scans locally, face to face and telephone appointments, medication reviews and treatments. Education sessions, by both email and phone, are also planned.
