Grangemouth Community Council will have a stall at the Zetland Park Grand Re-opening Event on Sunday 28th August, with information on the recently launched Grangemouth Community Action Plan (CAP), “Let’s Make Grangemouth Better”. The event takes place 10am – 3pm at Zetland Park. Grangemouth Community Council has arranged an interactive Grangemouth History and Heritage Quiz, with picture clues – a must for any proud Portonian!

Energy and You Online Discussion Event
Scottish Government will soon be consulting on a new Energy Strategy and Just Transition plan, and is hosting a short online discussion event, “Energy and You”, to raise awareness of the next steps, on Tuesday 23rd August, 7pm – 7:45pm. As the changing system will impact all parts of people’s lives, Scottish Government wants to speak with those likely to be impacted the most, to help identify what needs to be done to make it fair for everyone.
Firstport Social Innovation Challenge 2022
Firstport has launched their new Social Innovation Challenge. Building on the legacy of COP26, the 2022 theme is “innovative solutions to climate change issues faced by rural communities in Scotland”. The programme will award up to £50,000 in grant funding to support the development of new social enterprise solutions, as well as tailored support to launch and implement the solution. The deadline for applications is 12pm on Friday 16th September.

The Scottish Ambulance Service is seeking Infection Control Committee Volunteers. The Committee provides a vital perspective in ensuring ambulance staff are trained to the highest standards, and vehicles maintained in accordance with national cleanliness specifications.
RSPB Pin Badge Box Volunteers
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has an opportunity for a Pin Badge Box Volunteer. This involves placing pin badge boxes in venues local to you (such as shops or cafés) and checking them every 4 – 6 weeks to refill the badges and collect donations. The donations then must be banked and logged on the RSPB’s website. This has a time commitment of around 2 hours per month.
Meadowbank Car 4U Volunteer Drivers
Meadowbank Car 4U provides a free transport service for cancer patients who are registered with the 3 medical groups at Meadowbank Health Centre in Polmont. They are currently looking for volunteer drivers.
Access Panel Volunteers
Falkirk Disability Access Panel is looking for Access Panel Volunteers to join them. Volunteers will work to improve access and inclusion for disabled people in the local community.
Ethics in Volunteer Engagement Event
The Volunteer Organiser Network’s August event, Ethics in Volunteer Engagement, will take place on Tuesday 23rd August, 2pm – 3:30pm. The event is free to attend, and will be held online. This session provides an opportunity for practitioners to understand the difference between personal, organisational and professional ethics.
Baker Volunteer
Westfield Park Community Centre has an opportunity for a Baker Volunteer. The volunteer will bake different goods for community and fundraising events. Food hygiene procedures must be followed, but support will be provided on this. Baking can be carried out in the volunteer’s home, but they must be able to deliver the baked goods when needed to Westfield Park Community Centr.
Recycle4Charity Ink Cartridge Recycling Programme
Recycle4Charity is a free to use printer ink cartridge recycling programme for charities, schools and not-for-profit organisations. They aim to provide organisations with a new and sustainable revenue stream, and simultaneously boost their environmental credentials. Recycle4Charity has raised in total £1.7 million for charities, schools and non-profit organisations since they began in 2002.
