Recycle4Charity is a free to use printer ink cartridge recycling programme for charities, schools and not-for-profit organisations. They aim to provide organisations with a new and sustainable revenue stream, and simultaneously boost their environmental credentials.
With an established partner network, they are able to offer the most value for the inkjet cartridges they receive from members, which is reflected in the donation they can then pass to charities or non-profit organisations registered with them.
The process:
- Register
Groups and organisations begin by registering their fundraising account via the Recycle4Charity website.2. Spread the Word
Once registered, groups and organisations should promote and share information about the recycling programme, and how they could benefit. Each registered organisation will receive free materials and marketing toolkit from Recycle4Charity; they can also contact the team for additional support or bespoke materials, by email: info@recycle4charity.co.uk3. Recycle4Charity Collect the Cartridges
Supporters can post the ink cartridges they have been collecting over the last 2 years in their home offices, directly to Recycle4Charity with their free postage labels or by placing collection boxes in shops.4. Groups Get Paid
Ink cartridges will then be recycled, and groups will receive a donation at the end of each quarter via bank transfer or cheque.
Recycle4Charity has raised in total £1.7 million for charities, schools and non-profit organisations since they began in 2002.
According to their team, “every year in the UK, around 45 million printer cartridges end up in landfill, taking an estimated 1000 years to decompose. If we recycled 1% of these cartridges, we could be raising £450,000 for charities and good causes.”
