Volunteer Scotland has published its latest learning resource, the Duty to Refer Process Learning Byte video. If a group or organisation has volunteers or staff in a regulated role, there is an important legal responsibility which must be taken seriously. They must report harmful behaviour to Disclosure Scotland; this is known as the Duty to Refer.

VON Online Volunteer Network Peer Support Session
The Volunteer Organisers Network (VON) is hosting its next online Volunteer Network Peer Support Session, focusing on remote volunteering, on Thursday 23 July 2026, 11am – 12pm. This peer support session will focus on the pros, cons and good practice around remote volunteering.
Edinburgh Airport Community Fund
The Edinburgh Airport Community Fund supports local communities by providing grants to community groups and charities improving opportunities, facilities, and services for local people. Organisations based in Falkirk (FK1, FK2, and FK3 only) can apply. Priority will be given to projects aligning with the airport’s Greater Good sustainability strategy. Grants of up to £7,000 are available, with £140,000 awarded annually. The next deadline is 11:59pm on Thursday 13 August 2026
Henry Smith Foundation Early Years Parenting Fund
The Henry Smith Foundation’s Early Years Parenting Fund is now open for Expressions of Interest. The fund provides £56,250 per year over four years (a total of £225,000) and can be used towards general running costs. The fund is designed to offer flexible, long‑term support for organisations delivering sustained, face‑to‑face early years parenting work across the UK. Expressions of Interest close at 5pm on Wednesday 1 July 2026.
New OSCR Corporate Strategy for 2026-29
The Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has published its corporate strategy for 2026–29. The strategy sets out how OSCR will regulate and support charities to deliver the services the people of Scotland need, and contains four main strategic themes for the next three year. To accompany the corporate strategy, OSCR has also published a business plan for 2026-27.
