The CVS Falkirk 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place in-person on Thursday 24th November 2022, at St Francis Xavier’s Church Hall (across from Morrison’s Petrol Station), 1 Hope Street, Falkirk, FK1 5AT. The hall will be open for registration, food and refreshments from 1:15pm, with the AGM beginning at 2pm. We are delighted to confirm our guest speaker, Jennifer Mitchell (Funding Manager at The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland’s Central Team). Earlier in the week, we will be launching our new programme, “Getting on Board: Trustees Training”, with FREE sessions each day!

Scotland Social Entrepreneurs Trade Up Programme
The School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) Scotland has launched their new Scotland Social Entrepreneurs Trade Up Programme, now open to applications. The programme includes 8 days of free learning, January 2023 – December 2023, up to £7,000 in Match Trading grants which supports participants’ recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, and a network of peers, designed to help each other develop plans and act as a sounding board. The deadline for all applications is 1pm on Friday 28th October.
Community Choices Programme Now Live
The latest round of the Community Choices programme is now live and open for project idea submissions. Two grants are available: Small Grant: up to £5,000 for projects that will make a real difference to the lives of people living in each Falkirk Council ward; Place-based Capital Grant: supporting proposals which need a capital investment of more than £5,000 to build something new, improve an asset or purchase equipment. Projects must aim to make communities in Falkirk fairer, healthier, more connected, or more inclusive. The closing date for project submissions is 5pm on Friday 2nd December.
Fully Funded Mental Health First Aid Training for Third Sector
CVS Falkirk is pleased to offer the opportunity to attend a fully funded Mental Health First Aid in-person training programme, taking place on Tuesday 6th December and Tuesday 13th December, at Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Redbrae Rd, Camelon FK1 4DD. This training is aimed at third sector leaders and active volunteers, and is designed to upskill individuals in providing help to someone experiencing a mental health problem before professional help is obtained.
dates-n-mates Halloween Party
dates-n-mates Falkirk is holding their Halloween party on Thursday 27th October, 7pm – 11pm, at the Oxgang House Hotel, 15 – 17 Oxgang Road, Grangemouth, FK3 9BY. The event will feature music, a buffet, and games. Tickets are available at the door on the night, and are £7 for members, and £8 for non-members.
CSREC 2022 AGM
Central Scotland Regional Equality Council (CSREC) will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 27th October at the Falkirk Fire Station, Westfield, Falkirk, FK2 9AH. Registration opens at 5:45pm, with the AGM beginning at 6pm. There is also the option to attend via Zoom.
SFRS “Fire Safety and the Cost of Living Crisis” Event
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is holding an online Teams event, “Fire Safety and the Cost of Living Crisis”, on Thursday 27th October, 9:30am – 1pm. The event will focus on what the cost of living crisis means to communities, and how this may potentially increase fire risk.
Froglife Celebration Event: Come Forth for Wildlife Mapestry
Froglife is holding a free celebration event for the community driven artwork Come Forth for Wildlife Mapestry, on Wednesday 26th October, 5:30pm – 7pm at The Helix Visitor Centre, Grangemouth, FK2 7ZT. Places are limited, and booking is essential.
LAST CHANCE: Career Ready’s Fully Funded 4 Week Internships
This weekend is the LAST CHANCE for Falkirk third sector groups and organisations to sign up for Career Ready and host a young person in a 4 week paid internship! There is no cost to getting involved for organisations – the programme is fully funded. The deadline for all sign ups is Monday 24th October.
Bainsford and Langlees Community Litter Pick
Coo Park United AFC and Forth Environment Link are holding a FREE community Litter Pick this coming Sunday 23rd October, the first of what will be a monthly litter pick in Bainsford and Langlees. The litter pick will take place 1pm – 2pm, beginning at the Dawson Community Centre, David’s Loan, Bainsford, FK2 7RG, with free tea, coffee and cake available 2pm – 3pm.
