Asda has announced a range of new “winter warmer” initiatives to support customers and community groups struggling with the cost of living crisis, including soup, a roll and unlimited tea and coffees for £1 in any of its cafes for older people, “Kids eat for £1”, and support for community groups, including funding.

In November, we’re launching our new programme, “Getting on Board: Trustees Training”! We are so pleased to present these FREE one hour online training sessions, aimed at trustees and senior managers of third sector organisations, from a range of sector experts: Roots HR CIC, Consultants for Good CIC, and Womble Bond Dickinson. The sessions will take place Monday 21st November – Wednesday 23rd November.
VHS Board of Directors Nominations Open
The 18th Voluntary Health Scotland (VHS) AGM and Annual Lecture, followed by a networking lunch, will take place on Wednesday 30th November, at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh. They are inviting nominations for election to the Board of Directors. Full Member organisation are entitled to nominate themselves or a representative for election at the AGM. The deadline for completed and signed Nomination Forms and Statements is 5pm on Wednesday 9th November.
Robertson Trust Financial Security Programme Award
Robertson Trust has launched its new Financial Security Programme Award (with £2 million available), and are currently seeking applications. They are particularly interested in delivering “big change that lasts” in priority areas, and i funding ideas and work that can deliver change on tackling poverty and trauma in Scotland. The deadline for Stage 1 applications is 12pm on Wednesday 23rd November.

The first post-pandemic meeting of the Safer and Empowered Communities Forum will take place on Wednesday 23rd November, 10am – 12pm, via Zoom. We will be joined by Rayana from the Corra Foundation to talk about the new Household Hardship Fund.
Young Scot Cost of Living Support and Survey for Young People
In response to young people sharing their concerns and questions about the cost of living crisis, along with a desire to play their part in supporting households during this time, Young Scot has launched a dedicated information hub to support young people, and a new online survey.

Talk Money Week: Cost of Living Crisis Workshops
CVS Falkirk is hosting a series of online workshops via Zoom during Talk Money Week (taking place Monday 7th November – Friday 11th November) with the aim of providing information to third sector staff and active volunteers relating to the Cost of Living Crisis. Confirmed guest speakers include: Monday 7th November, 10am – 11am: Utility Aid; Wednesday 9th November, 1pm – 2pm: Falkirk Council’s Fairer Falkirk team; Friday 11th November, 10am – 11am: Scottish Gambling Education Hub.
