National wildlife charity Froglife is holding a free celebration event for the community driven artwork Come Forth for Wildlife Mapestry, on Wednesday 26th October, 5:30pm – 7pm at The Helix Visitor Centre, Grangemouth, FK2 7ZT.
Twelve venues and groups came together throughout 2020/21 in the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic to create a map tapestry showcasing local heritage of the Forth Valley region, and what heritage means to them.
Attendees can view the Mapestry in full, hear about how this community-led artwork came together, and from David Galletly, a Glasgow based artist and illustrator, presenting on the involvement of art with local communities.
The event will be opened by the Provost of Falkirk, Councillor Robert Bissett, and chaired by Senior Scottish Academic Professor Roger Downie of the University of Glasgow. There will be refreshments in the form of soup, sandwiches, cakes, and both hot and cold drinks throughout the event, along with the opportunity for attendees to meet and network with other Forth Valley-based groups.
Places are limited, and booking is essential.
