Dogs Trust is holding a FREE family workshop this coming Monday 17th July, 10:30am – 11:30am, at Falkirk Library, Hope Street, Falkirk, FK1 5AU. “Be Dog Smart!” is open to children aged 7 years old and over, with games, challenges and craft activities to help learn how to keep dogs’ brains and bodies active, happy and healthy.

Applications are now open for Social Investment Scotland’s (SIS) leadership programme, Ambitions 2023. The online Ambitions programme is a transformational leadership journey, where a cohort of executive-level leaders from impact-led organisations receive SIS support to scale their operations and enhance their leadership skills. The deadline for applications is 11:59pm on Friday 25th August.
Introduction to Fundraising for Active Travel Course
Sustrans Scotland is running an online Introduction to Fundraising for Active Travel course, taking place over 2 half days, on Tuesday 11th July and Wednesday 19th July (both 10am – 1pm). The course aims to be a practical introduction to fundraising for community-based active travel projects in Scotland which in some way encourage people to travel more actively in their daily lives.

Falkirk’s Third Sector Employability Forum’s next meeting takes place on Wednesday 19th July, 10am – 11am, online via Zoom. The meeting will feature a presentation from Claire Meikle at Career Ready, on how they can work with the third sector to provide opportunities for young people in Falkirk.
Parental Employment Support Fund Programme for Parents
Falkirk Council’s Employment and Training (ETU) offers personalised support for parents in progressing their careers or with finding employment. The Parental Employment Support Fund (PESF) programme is open to parents who are unemployed and looking to start work, or who are in work and looking to upskill, and who are from specific backgrounds or family types.
Moving On Up Programme Launched
LinkLiving is launched their new Moving On Up programme for young people aged 16 – 19 years old, living in Falkirk and Fife. Moving On Up is a 2-tiered programme, offering tailored support covering mental health and resilience, and skills for life, and aiming to provide a trauma-informed approach supporting young people to learn new skills and realise their future goals.
FEL Scotland Lunch & Chat Just Transition Event
FEL Scotland, in partnership with Scottish Government, are holding a lunchtime conversation on how groups can work together to move to a climate friendly life. The Lunch & Chat takes place on Tuesday 18th July, 12pm – 2:30pm at the Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Redbrae Road, Camelon, FK1 4DD. The event aims to give people an opportunity to have their opinions help shape how the government creates climate change policies.
Alcohol Awareness Week Resources
This year’s Alcohol Awareness Week campaign began on Monday 3rd July, running until Sunday 9th July, with a theme of “Alcohol and Cost”. As part of the campaign, Alcohol Change UK has published a range of resources to help create alcohol change.
