Volunteers’ Week 2026 is almost here! Taking place every year 1 June – 7 June, it is an opportunity to celebrate everything volunteers achieve locally, and across the country. Our team would like to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU to all the fabulous volunteers in Falkirk District dedicating their time and supporting those within their local communities. As part of our commitment to promoting and supporting volunteering, we are planning activities across Falkirk District – and not just during Volunteers’ Week! In recognition of how special and amazing volunteers are in our local communities, and all the different ways people can get involved, we are extending our activities into the following week.

New Knowledge Gateway Hub Launched
Volunteer Scotland has announced the launch of the Knowledge Gateway, a new central hub designed to support volunteering practice, development, and impact across Scotland. With the Knowledge Gateway, Volunteer Scotland aims to bring together practical guidance, tools, training, and insights to help groups and organisations develop, promote, and strengthen volunteering.
Make Your Mark Inclusive Volunteering Surgeries
Make Your Mark’s new Inclusive Volunteering Surgeries are informal sessions designed especially for history, culture and nature groups and organisations to explore making their volunteer programme more inclusive, with the next taking place next Wednesday 20 May 2026. Hosted by Erin Burke, Make Your Mark Campaign Coordinator, these informal sessions are tailored to attendees and their organisations.
CGL Volunteer Opportunities Closing Soon
Change Grow Live (CGL) is currently looking to recruit new volunteers within Falkirk District for the following roles: Women’s Engagement Support Volunteer (please note, this role is exclusively available to women due to the nature of the role, under section 11 of the Equality Act 2010) and Administration Support. Due to scheduled training, the deadline for applications to these roles is Friday 22 May 2026.
“Supporting Volunteers Through People-Centred HR” Webinar
With Volunteers’ Week taking place Monday 1 June – Sunday 7 June 2026, Volunteer Scotland and Roots HR have joined together to offer a FREE webinar on Tuesday 19 May 2026, 12pm – 1pm, designed to help Volunteer Involving Organisations and charities make the most of the campaign, while also highlighting how strong, people-centred HR can underpin great volunteering experiences.
“Connect and Collaborate” Event with Volunteer Scotland
Volunteer Scotland is hosting a “Connect and Collaborate” event on Friday 15 May 2026, 2pm – 4pm, focusing on Volunteers’ Week 2026 and the wider Month of Community. The event is being held in-person at the Volunteer Scotland office, Jubilee House, Forthside Way, Stirling, FK8 1QZ.
International Guide Dog Day: Get Involved Locally
Earlier this week, we celebrated International Guide Dog Day 2026 (Wednesday 29 April)! Guide dogs give people with sight loss the confidence to get out safely and live the life they choose. Guide Dogs Scotland is one of the UK’s leading sight loss charities, and are active locally. Within the Falkirk District, you can get involved and support their work by volunteering.

A message from Ashleigh Gillespie, our Volunteering Development Officer, ahead of Volunteers’ Week 2026: “Volunteers’ Week runs annually 1 – 7 June, and is a special time to celebrate and thank the people who give their time and dedication to support others and their local communities. Volunteers are at the heart of our communities, and this campaign week is all about recognising their incredible impact. We encourage all organisations, groups, and local people to engage with the campaign – to support this, Volunteer Scotland has a dedicated Resources page.”
Connecting Volunteering Network: May 2026 Meeting
Join CVS Falkirk & District for our upcoming Connecting Volunteering Network meeting on Thursday 14 May 2026, 10am – 12pm, at the Falkirk Fire Station Community Room, Westfield, Falkirk, FK2 9AH. The theme for this meeting will be “Volunteers Week”, looking at the different plans and celebrations taking place across Falkirk District to thank local volunteers.
The Big Help Out Returns for 2026
After a year-long break, The Big Help Out will return this Volunteers’ Week 2026, running Friday 5 June 2026 – Monday 8 June 2026.
