Earlier this week, we celebrated International Guide Dog Day 2026 (Wednesday 29 April)! Guide dogs give people with sight loss the confidence to get out safely and live the life they choose.
Guide Dogs Scotland is one of the UK’s leading sight loss charities. While known for their guide dog service, Guide Dogs Scotland also:
- supports children and young people with vision impairment and their families
- provides mobility and confidence training to help people live independently
- campaigns for the rights of people with sight loss, including improving access and inclusion
- offers emotional support and opportunities to connect with others in the community
Within the Falkirk District, you can get involved and support their work by volunteering as a Fundraiser, supporting local events and raising money for an important cause, or as a Puppy Raiser, guiding a puppy through training, socialisation, and experiences, whilst providing a loving home for 12 – 16 months.
