The RS Macdonald Charitable Trust provides around £3 million in grants every year to charities working in Scotland, through their small and main grants programmes. For main grants, the next deadline is Wednesday 3 Sept 2025 for applications of £15,000 – £55,000. Small grant applications can be submitted at any time, for awards of up to £15,000.

New CSREC Referral Process
The Central Scotland Regional Equality Council (CSREC) has released a new referral form and information leaflet to streamline access to its range of support services. These include help with public services, welfare benefits, housing, employment, inequality, discrimination, and Hate Crime reporting.
Home Fire Safety Visit Update and Invitation
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is updating its Home Fire Safety Visit (HFSV) programme with key changes to better support high-risk individuals, based on new fire fatality research. To support this, SFRS is inviting community groups, care providers, and support agencies across Scotland to become HFSV partners, to help identify vulnerable individuals and support joint safety efforts.
New SCCR Learning Zone for Parents and Carers
Cyrenians’ Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution (SCCR) has launched a new online resource, aimed at supporting parents and carers to manage and reduce family conflict, which is one of the leading causes of youth homelessness in Scotland.
Community Engagement in the NHS Online Workshops
NHS Scotland has announced the launch of a new series of quarterly online workshops, aimed at raising awareness and promoting understanding of community engagement within the health service. The first session, titled “What is Community Engagement in the NHS?”, will be held via MS Teams on Thursday 26 June 2025, 11am – 12pm.
2025 SURF Awards Nominations and Applications Open
The 2025 SURF Awards for Best Practice in Community Regeneration are now open for applications and nominations. The purpose is to highlight, celebrate and share the achievements of initiatives which address physical, social and economic challenges in communities across Scotland. Groups and organisations can apply for an Award themselves, or they can be nominated by someone else.
Playlist for Life Event on Music and Dementia
Playlist for Life’s Falkirk Community Network invites people to their next event exploring the powerful link between personal music and dementia. Taking place on Thursday 26 June 2025, the event will run 1:30pm – 2:30pm, with time for discussion and networking until 3pm, at The Place to Pause & Breathe, 18 High Street, Bonnybridge, FK4 1DA.
Enable Communities Weekly Walking Groups
Enable Communities holds weekly walking groups in the Falkirk District area, which are open to anyone (though primarily aimed at adults with learning disabilities in the area, their family and support staff also more than welcome). The walks take place every Thursday, 1:30pm – 3:30pm, with the next meeting at the Falkirk Wheel on Thursday 19 June 2025.
Braveheart Art & Crafts Fayre
Volunteers from the Braveheart Association will host an Art & Crafts Fayre on Thursday 19 June 2025, 10am – 3pm, at the Braveheart Connections Hub in the Howgate Shopping Centre, High Street, Falkirk, FK1 1HG. This is the first event of the Braveheart’s newly formed fundraising group.
