FOSS Words of Welcome Farsi Event
Friends of Scottish Settlers (FOSS) has announced the next Words of Welcome event in a series of community events. This event will be based around the language of Farsi, in partnership with Callendar House, taking place on Friday 8 August 2025, 12:30pm – 4pm, at Callendar House itself, Falkirk, FK1 1YR.
National Playday 2025
Playday is the national day for play, celebrated each year across the UK on the first Wednesday in August. Playday 2025 will be celebrated on Wednesday 6 August 2025, with the theme “Spaces for Play”. This year’s theme highlights the importance of accessible, inclusive spaces where children and young people have opportunities to play freely, spending time connecting with friends, and feel valued as part of their community.
Falkirk’s Wee Green Gathering Event
Falkirk Council has organised Falkirk’s Wee Green Gathering, taking place on Saturday 2 August 2025, 12pm – 4pm at The Helix Playground, Falkirk, FK2 7ZT. The free event plans to bring together local groups and organisations making a difference in sustainability across Falkirk District, with a range of stalls, hands-on workshops, games, prizes, and activities for attendees of all ages.

Volunteering Support Fund: Applications Open
Impact Funding Partners is now welcoming applications for the Volunteering Support Fund. The fund supports small- to medium-sized third sector organisations across Scotland to recruit additional volunteers for the delivery of a new, or the expansion of an existing, volunteering project. The deadline for applications is Monday 25 August 2025, with decisions issued from Friday 31 October 2025.
Action Earth Grants Programme
Through its Action Earth Grants programme, Volunteering Matters is offering grants of up to £250 to volunteer groups across Scotland for environmental projects which enhance local green spaces. Eligible activities include creating or improving community gardens, wildflower meadows, ponds, woodlands, and other wildlife habitats.
