16 Days of Action 2020
This year’s 16 Days of Action campaign takes place Wednesday 25th November – Thursday 10th December. 2020’s campaign focuses on emotional abuse, and has published an online toolkit to raise awareness around emotional abuse, what it looks like and how to combat it. In Forth Valley, the Resilience Learning Partnership (RLP) is co-ordinating a range of presentations, workshops, and resources for staff.
Research into Community COVID-19 Responses: Online Survey
Al Masaar is working with Together, We Help, to highlight the way local communities play a critical role in Scotland’s future and how everyone can build forward better, creating a fairer Scotland for all. They have launched an anonymous online survey for volunteers and individuals who have contributed at any point, or are still contributing, towards local action, and are keen to hear from as many individuals as possible. The deadline for responses is Wednesday 25th November.
Management of Offenders (Scotland) Act Information Events
At the end of November, significant amendments to how previous criminal records are disclosed in recruitment will come into force. There will be a series of online events providing information on the changes, including: a local employer information session on Tuesday 24th November, 9:30am, – 11am with Camelon Connect and Recruit With Conviction, and the Recruit With Conviction annual conference on Thursday 26th November, 10am – 12:30pm.
New CVS Falkirk CEO Announced
CVS Falkirk is pleased to announce the appointment of Victoria McRae as its new Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. Victoria has been with the organisation since 2010 as a key member of the management team, overseeing the delivery of all key strategic objectives locally and nationally for the organisation, while successfully leading and managing a staff team within their core activities and funded specific projects. We are delighted to appoint Victoria as the new CEO.
Save the Date: Forth Valley Third Sector Conference Rescheduled
Alongside Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE) and Clackmannanshire TSI (CTSI), we are delighted to announce a new date for the Forth Valley Third Sector Conference, which was postponed earlier this year due to COVID-19. We will now be hosting an entirely digital event on Tuesday 9th February 2021. Tickets will go on sale in early December.
Co-op Food Fund
Foundation Scotland has launched the Co-op Food Fund, with grants of £1,000 – £5,000 available for projects starting after Monday 21st December. The Co-op Food Fund aims to support organisations or projects which provide access to food and sustainable solutions to food poverty in Scotland (including foodbanks and holiday food schemes). Only constituted groups, with a governing document, can apply. The deadline for applications is 12pm on Friday 13th November.

This week’s new bulletin includes funding from Creative Scotland to support the creative sector during the COVID-19 pandemic, funding for community-based food initiatives, and information on British Science Week grants.
Young Carer Grant: First Anniversary
Wednesday 21st October saw the first birthday of the Young Carer Grant. The Young Carer Grant is a £305.10 payment available on an annual basis for 16 – 18 year olds who spend an average of 16 hours a week caring for someone who receives a disability benefit. Young carers can spend the money on anything they want. If it has been a year since they received a payment, young carers are encouraged to check if they’re still eligible and apply again.
November “Care With Confidence” Online Sessions
Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre has announced further “Care with Confidence” Zoom sessions for unpaid carers in Falkirk, including “Reducing Our Energy Costs” with Home Energy Scotland and Scottish Water, on Tuesday 3rd November, 10:30am – 12:30pm, and “Diabetes: How to Reduce Your Risk”, on Tuesday 10th November, 10:30am – 12:30pm. Support is available for carers who would like to attend but are not sure how to get online, or how to join a Zoom meeting.
