Wednesday 21st October saw the first birthday of the Young Carer Grant.
The Young Carer Grant is a £305.10 payment available on an annual basis for 16 – 18 year olds who spend an average of 16 hours a week caring for someone who receives a disability benefit.
Young carers can spend the money on anything they want, from driving lessons to clothes or a subscription to a music or video streaming service.
If it has been a year since they received a payment, young carers are encouraged to check if they’re still eligible and apply again.
To apply or reapply, or for further information, please visit the Young Carer Grant page.
Alternatively, contact Social Security Scotland by phone: 0800 182 2222.
