Scottish Government’s Suicide Prevention team is holding a FREE event for charities and third sector groups and organisations working in suicide prevention across Scotland to come together, network, share learning, and build connections. “Gathering Hope” takes place on Tuesday 23rd January, 10am – 4pm at the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton. Our team at CVS Falkirk would encourage any groups who received funding through the Falkirk Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults to attend where possible, especially as places are limited.

Falkirk’s Third Sector Employability Forum: January 2024 Meeting
The next Falkirk’s Third Sector Employability Forum meeting takes place on Wednesday 24th January, 10am – 11am, via Zoom. We will be joined by Peter Muir, Disability Employment Advisor from DWP, to share information about the support available for job-seekers who have a disability, and the opportunity for organisations who employ staff to achieve “Disability Confident” status.
FREE Multiply Numeracy Courses Available
The Larder, in partnership with Falkirk Council, is delivering new free “Multiply” adult numeracy courses, funded by the UK Government. Multiply is a practical numeracy course for learners aged 19 years old and over who want to improve their numeracy skills. Currently, The Larder is offering 2 Workplace Core Skill: Numeracy courses through the Multiply programme, at SCQF 4 or 5.

The Denny and Dunipace Gala Day 2024 will take place on Saturday 25th May. The gala day committee are still in the planning stages of the event, and all information and announcements will be made through their Facebook page.
Sporting Chance 2024 Programme: Referrals Open
Funded by the Falkirk Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults, Link Academy and Falkirk Foundation have launched their new course, Sporting Chance, open to young people in Falkirk District, aged 16 – 25 years old. Referrals are now open. Sporting Chance is an 8 week program running every Thursday and Friday (10am – 3pm), beginning Thursday 8th February. Lunch is provided for participants, and bus travel vouchers are available.
Families Outside Summer 2024 Event Survey
Families Outside will be hosting another event for families affected by another person’s imprisonment in Summer 2024, and are looking for people’s ideas and thoughts to help plan the event. They would like the event to reflect what families want and need, and will be consulting family members at all stages of planning. They have launched an online survey to begin collecting these views and opinions.
Camelon and District Pipe Band Burns Supper
Camelon and District Pipe Band’s first fundraising event for 2024 will be their Burns Supper, taking place on Saturday 27th January at the Camelon Juniors FC Stadium, Fairlie Street, Camelon, FK1 4NP.
Falkirk More Than Fibro Peer Support Group Upcoming Meetings
Falkirk’s More Than Fibro Peer Support Group is now meeting again after the holiday break, with their next face to face group taking place on Tuesday 23rd January, 11am – 12:30pm in the Community Room of Morrisons supermarket, Hope Street, Falkirk, FK1 5BU.
2024 Pocket Garden Competition Launched
Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB) has launched their 2024 Pocket Garden Competition, where young people (aged 3 – 18 years old) are invited to design pocket-sized gardens via their schools and nurseries. KSB is also holding a “Meet the Mentors” twilight session next Wednesday 17th January from 4pm for teachers and educators whose class would like to take part in the competition. The session will be held online via Teams.
PATH (Scotland) Finance Traineeship
PATH (Scotland) is offering a Finance Traineeship with Maryhill Housing Association through the 36 month Positive Action Training Scheme, which has been specifically designed to redress the under-representation of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Communities in employment in Scottish Housing. The traineeship is 28 hours per week, and a training allowance of £15,870.40 per year. The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 15th January.
