PATH (Scotland) is offering a Finance Traineeship through the 36 month Positive Action Training Scheme, which has been specifically designed to redress the under-representation of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Communities in employment in Scottish Housing.
PATH works in collaboration with Local Authority Housing Departments and Registered Social Landlords across Scotland to provide their housing training opportunities; this traineeship is in partnership with Maryhill Housing Association.
This scheme is promoted under Section 158 of the Equality Act 2010, and is currently supported by Local Authorities and Housing Associations across Scotland.
The training involves:
- 36 months’ work experience, with 28 hours per week
- specialist qualifications and professional membership
- training allowance of £15,870.40 per year, tied to the Scottish Living Wage (£10.90 per hour) and exempt from tax and national insurance; this will be subject to an increase from April 2024
- working with the purchase ledger processing cycle
- assisting with supplier queries
- assisting with supplier statement reconciliations
- processing rent payments daily
- assisting with queries in relations to rents
- supporting the Finance Team
At the end of the programme, trainees can compete for Finance jobs in the Scottish Housing sector.
Applicants should be:
- from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Communities
- interested in working in Finance
- willing to undertake a demanding training and study programme over the 36 months – 4 days’ work experience (between Monday and Friday) inclusive of one day’s attendance at college or university during the academic year
Applicants should have:
- good level of numerical ability, with focus on attention to detail
- good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
- confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- high levels of interpersonal skills and integrity
- commitment to equality and diversity
- knowledge of general office practices
The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 15th January, with interviews held week commencing Monday 29th February at Maryhill Housing Association.
