Funded by the Falkirk Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults, Link Academy (part of the Link Group) and Falkirk Foundation have launched their new course, Sporting Chance, open to young people in Falkirk District, aged 16 – 25 years old. Referrals are now open.
Sporting Chance is an 8 week program running every Thursday and Friday (10am – 3pm), beginning Thursday 8th February. Lunch is provided for participants, and bus travel vouchers are available. Sporting Chance aims to combine the personal development needs of young people with the importance of health and fitness, providing participants the opportunity take part in football, as well as other sporting activities.
The first half of each day will be classroom-based at Link Academy, where the course will cover topics related to wellbeing, such as Mindset, Conflict Resolution, Dealing with Stress and Managing Anxiety. All sessions will be interactive and participants will take part in team building activities.
The second half of the day will take place at Falkirk Stadium, and include sports-related sessions such as football, boxing, circuits, and games.
The course is run by Link’s Vicky Lennon, who is happy to speak to groups and organisations supporting young people, or attend team meetings, to provide the groups and their young people with more information on Sporting Chance ahead of referrals being submitted.
To submit a referral, please download and complete the linked application form and send by email: lareception@linkgroup.org.uk
Link Academy will then be in touch with participants to arrange an initial meeting ahead of the course’s start.
