Volunteers’ Week 2025 with CVS Falkirk & District
Volunteers’ Week 2025 is fast approaching! Taking place Monday 2 June – Sunday 8 June, our Volunteering Team is planning a busy week of events and visits. Here are the activities we have planned to celebrate the amazing contribution of volunteers in Falkirk District.
Volunteer Opportunity: Bo’ness Fair Day Volunteers
Bo’ness Children’s Fair Festival is looking for volunteers for the Bo’ness Fair Day taking place on Friday 27 June 2025. There are various opportunities to assist within the park and stewarding, including helping at Glebe Park and Douglas Park, and stewarding in the procession.
PVG Membership Changes Grace Period
Membership in the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme is now a legal requirement for individuals carrying out a regulated role. There is a 3 month grace period (Tuesday 1 April – Monday 30th June 2025) during which PVG scheme applications must be submitted for those who were in a regulated role prior to April. Our team at CVS Falkirk & District strongly recommends that you submit any application requests to Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services (VSDS) as soon as possible.
Volunteer Scotland Pathways to “Work Consultation” Response
Volunteer Scotland is planning a response to the UK Government’s consultation on their Pathways to Work green paper. This paper details how the UK Government intends to reform many benefits and support more people into employment.
Time for Good Volunteering Report Published
npfResearch has published their “Time for Good Volunteering Report”. The report aims to pull together some of the threads and trends regarding the current demographic profile of volunteers, as well as analysing recent initiatives, and setting out some hallmarks of good practice for individual charities.
Good Conversations Training Opportunity
CVS Falkirk & District is working with Linking Lives to offer local volunteers “Good Conversations” training. This training is FREE for volunteers looking to improve their conversation skills, who help within a community activity. We would like to gauge interest in this training session; therefore, the date, time and venue is yet to be confirmed. Spaces are limited and numbers will be restricted per group.
Disclosure Act Changes: Support from Volunteer Scotland
Throughout May, Volunteer Scotland is running a series of support sessions for local groups and organisations about the recent major changes to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme, as part of the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 which came into effect at the start of the month.
