Wednesday 10th March is National No Smoking Day, and NHS Forth Valley would like to reach anyone who smokes who would like to make an attempt to quit smoking for good. They are especially keen to reach people this year, where people who smoke tend to have poorer outcomes during the current pandemic. Community Conversations: Bonnybridge, Larbert and Falkirk South
Community Conversations are taking place online for areas across Falkirk, with the next events being Bonnybridge and Larbert (Ward 5) on Friday 5th March, 2pm – 3:30pm, and Falkirk South (Ward 7) next Monday 8th March, 2pm – 3:30pm. Getting involved now means that you have a chance to influence use of community property and schools in your area, and raise known issues with many of the council’s decision makers. So far, communities have been underrepresented in these conversations, and CVS Falkirk urge you not to miss your chance to be heard.

Forth Valley SEN: Next Meeting
The next Forth Valley Social Enterprise Network (FVSEN) meeting will take place on Wednesday 17th March, 10am – 12pm, with a theme of “Getting Your Enterprise Noticed Online”. Andrea McFarlane, supported by Business Gateway Clackmannanshire, will be in attendance to discuss the digital support available to any local third sector and social enterprise. She will also outline ways to ensure your business is getting itself noticed online. This will also be critical for the new online FVSEN directory currently being produced.
Free Social Enterprise Scotland Webinars in March
Social Enterprise Scotland is holding regular, free online webinars for social entrepreneurs throughout March. The sessions take place regularly on Wednesdays, 11:30am – 12:30pm, with the next on Wednesday 3rd March. Session topics include: “Delivering Community Food in a Changed Society”, “Raising Finance in New and Innovative Ways”, and “The Role of Social Enterprise in Mental Health”.
BBC Children in Need Advisory Committee Volunteers
BBC Children in Need is recruiting new volunteers to be members of their Scotland Advisory Committee, and the Chair of the Committee. The Advisory Committee, and the Chair of the Committee, are key parts of their grant-making process and they work closely with the Scotland staff team to ensure that BBC Children in Need grants continue to go where they are most needed. The closing date for applications to both roles is at 5pm on Thursday 11th March.
LinkLiving Board Member Volunteers
LinkLiving is recruiting new volunteer Board Members. They invite applications from people who can use their skills and knowledge to help LinkLiving achieve their new mission and strategy to support people, with a focus on young people affected by trauma and disadvantage, in East and Central Scotland. They will recruit up to 8 motivated and committed individuals who share their values of empathy, respect, integrity and care. The closing date for applications is 12pm on Thursday 11th March.
“Living Well With Diabetes and COVID-19” Online Information Event
Diabetes Scotland is hosting an online information session on how to live well with diabetes during the current pandemic, on Thursday 18th March, 10:30am – 12:pm. “Living Well with Diabetes and COVID-19” brings together specialist staff in diabetes care to provide up to date information so that people living with diabetes, and their families, can learn more about diabetes care in Scotland, get practical tips to help self-management and live well with the condition.
SEStran Draft Equality Outcomes 2021-25 Consultation
South East of Scotland Transport Partnership (SEStran) is consulting on its draft Equality Outcomes for 2021-25. These outcomes cover how SEStran intends to help make specific improvements around equalities, and in removing barriers to equality. The deadline for consultation responses is Tuesday 9th March.
Stirling Speakers 2021 Free Courses
Stirling Speakers (part of ToastMasters) has announced the first dates of their free 2021 courses, with the first course beginning Wednesday 3rd March. The second course starts on Wednesday 5th May. Each course has 4 interactive group sessions, all taking place weekly 7pm – 9pm via Zoom. The courses feature a structured programme to help participants develop their confidence and public speaking abilities, amongst other skills.
