Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) supports community and faith organisations to install solar PV and battery storage in their buildings. This is a short-term pilot, funded by Scottish Government and Great British Energy; funds need to be spent and claimed by Tuesday 31 March 2026. The maximum award is £80,000, and up to 80% of eligible costs can be funded.

Save the Children Scotland Report on Ending Child Poverty
A new report from Save the Children Scotland, “Navigating a Path to End Child Poverty in Scotland: Getting to 2030”, has stated that the country is not on course to meet its legally-binding child poverty targets. The report calls for “bold investment” in social security, including strengthening the Scottish Child Payment and progressing work on a Minimum Income Guarantee to ensure families have enough to live on.
Link Academy Programmes for Young People
Link Academy has announced its upcoming 10 week programmes for young people, starting this January in Falkirk: Moving On Up Programme, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 10am – 3pm (for young people aged 16 – 19 years old to work on skills for life); Creative Connections Programme, Mondays and Tuesdays, 10am – 3pm (for young people aged 16 – 25 years old to develop skills to manage stress and anxiety).
Step on Stress January 2026 Sessions
NHS Forth Valley will be holding in-person evening Step on Stress sessions to teach people how to manage their stress and anxiety, on: Thursday 22 January 2026, Thursday 29 January 2026, and Thursday 5 February 2026. Taking place 6:30pm – 7:45pm at Bailliefields Community Hub, Sunnyside Road, Brightons, FK2 0RN, Step on Stress is completely free and open to anyone over 16 years old.
Polmont Community Hub Christmas Event
Polmont Community Hub has announced its second Christmas Event will take place on Saturday 13 December 2025, 11am – 3pm in the hub itself, Greenpark Drive, Polmont, FK2 0PZ. The event is free to attend, with everyone welcome, and will feature stalls with handmade gifts, free refreshments (including mince pies and hot drinks), and festive music.
“Stay Warm for Less” Guide for Organisations
Business Energy Scotland has published “Stay Warm for Less”, a new guide with 13 quick and easy ways organisations can keep their energy bills low and staff warm. The guide covers tips, changes and checks organisations can implement (which can also be used in the home), along with resources to help, such as planners, toolkits and stickers.
“Power Station” Free Film Screening
Polmont Community Hub and Friends of the Earth Falkirk are holding a free film screening of “Power Station” this coming Sunday 7 December 2025, in the hub itself, Greenpark Road, Polmont, FK2 0PZ. Doors will open at 4pm, with the film starting at 4:30pm (with a run time of 95 minutes). Attendees are invited to stay afterwards for a Q&A, food and discussion.
Queer Breakfast Club Christmas Party
The Queer Breakfast Club in Grangemouth is holding its first ever Christmas Party on Saturday 6 December 2025 from 7pm at the Bonnybridge Community Hub, Bridge Street, Bonnybridge, FK4 1AA. Entry is free (funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund) and open to everyone over 18 years old.
