Met Office Community Resilience Free Training Programme
The Met Office has launched their Community Resilience training programme for 2024. The programme includes various courses aimed at people who work or volunteer in their local community, to help make the community more resilient to severe weather events. Courses are free, but booking is essential.

Strathcarron Hospice TikTok Channel Launched
Strathcarron Hospice has launched its official TikTok channel, as part of its ongoing strategic initiative to engage with new and younger audiences and reduce stigma. In collaboration with students from Larbert High School, the Hospice aims to utilise TikTok’s platform to share meaningful content, promote charity retail shops, advocate for sustainability, and dispel misconceptions.
FREE Kids’ Lunch and Activities for Slamannan and Limerigg
Slamannan Action Group has been awarded funding to provide a hot meal and warm space with games for children and young people during the Christmas school holidays. The Slamannan and Limerigg Kids Lunch Club will take place at Slamannan Bowling Club, 12:30pm – 2pm on Wednesday 27th December, Thursday 28th December, and Friday 29th December, and again on Wednesday 3rd January and Thursday 4th January.

FDAMH Mental Health Services Delivery Manager Vacancy
Falkirk’s Mental Health Association (FDAMH) is recruiting a Mental Health Services Delivery Manager. The position is 35 hours per week, including occasional evening work (though part-time hours may be considered), with a salary of £36,000—£42,000. New Volunteer Search Site Launched
On Tuesday 5th December, International Volunteer Day, Volunteer Scotland and the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) launched the new volunteer search site for Scotland, which aims to “make it easier for anyone and everyone to volunteer”.
Study Survey: Links Between Financial Instability and Suicidal Thoughts
The University of Strathclyde (UoS) and Samaritans Scotland are currently recruiting participants for a study aimed at exploring the experiences of different types of employment and/or salary for people living in Scotland. They are also interested in understanding people’s thoughts and perspectives on the role that these experiences might have on someone having suicidal thoughts or behaviours.
Carron Road Housing Development Public Consultation
Crawford Architectural has submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to Falkirk Council, with the intention to build affordable residential housing at the site on Carron Road, Falkirk (between the Lidl and Co-op, and Matalan). They are required by law to consult with the public on this proposal, with a public consultation event on Wednesday 13th December, 4pm – 8pm at Bainsford Community Hall, an online exhibition, and an online feedback form.
