“Building for Sustainability” Free Training Course
The Social Enterprise Academy is holding a free 2 day training course for social enterprises who have been trading for at least 2 years, and are looking to revisit their business model and to explore tools for developing financial sustainability and increasing social impact. The “Building for Sustainability” course takes place Wednesday 11th March – Thursday 12th March, 10am – 4pm at the Ernst&Young Foundation office, 5 George Square, Glasgow, G2 1DY.
STAND International Volunteers
Start A New Day (STAND) International provides short-term volunteering opportunities abroad for people who have experienced being socially or economically disadvantaged in Scotland. Volunteers abroad are supported to assist in different opportunities in Europe. All volunteers are expected to do some fundraising towards the trip.
Home-Start Falkirk Volunteers
Home-Start Falkirk are recruiting for volunteers who are interested in giving 2-3 hours of their time per week to offer support to young families in the Falkirk area. Home-Start Falkirk will provide full training and support. They request that volunteers are parents themselves, or have experience of parenting in another capacity (such as foster parents or step-family).
Edinburgh Airport Community Fund
The Edinburgh Airport Community Fund has £140,000 per year to award to projects based around local communities. The fund, managed by the Community Board, supports the community through funding local initiatives to support health and wellbeing, the environment and education. Applications should be submitted through the online form and received 2 weeks before the next board meeting, which takes place on Friday 13th March.
Tackling Poverty and Inequalities Forum: First Meeting of 2020
The Third Sector Tackling Poverty and Inequalities Forum will return for 2020 on Thursday 19th March, 10am – 12pm at the CVS Falkirk office, Unit 6, Callendar Business Park, Callendar Road, Falkirk, FK1 1XR. Guests from Social Security Scotland will be in attendance to provide an update on their services.
National Planning Framework Drop-Ins and Call for Views
Scottish Government’s Planning and Architecture Division is currently developing the next National Planning Framework (NPF), and is looking for people’s views on the future development of Scotland. In addition to their Call for Ideas, the division has organised drop-ins in Glasgow and Edinburgh, on Tuesday 17th March and Wednesday 18th March, respectively. Everyone is welcome. The deadline for responses is Tuesday 31st March.

In this penultimate edition, we focus on the National Community Lottery Fund Scotland, the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) Scotland, and the Bank of Scotland Foundation.
