Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, has launched its Pass the Plate campaign to address child hunger and food insecurity, and support vulnerable young people.
The initiative will fund grants for not-for-profit organisations and schools delivering food-related projects for children and young people under 25 years old. Eligible schemes include breakfast clubs, food banks, holiday hunger programmes, and community initiatives improving access to nutritious meals.
Funding for the initiative is generated through donations from the public, corporate partners, and sports supporters. Applications should evidence clear need, outline delivery plans, and demonstrate clear benefits for children facing poverty or food insecurity.
Examples of previous projects supported by Wooden Spoon include school breakfast clubs in deprived areas, community kitchens providing hot meals, and holiday hunger programmes.
