The Bo’ness Networking Group (Bo’net) is looking for new committee members (trustees), and event volunteers.
The organisation – which supports community groups and has organised projects like the revamp at Bo’ness Hospital Garden – says it needs “fresh faces” to keep projects growing.
The Roles
- Committee Members
Volunteer committee members are expected to attend several meetings each year. Past committee experience is not essential, as training and support will be given. However, trustees must live in Bo’ness and be members of Bo’net (instructions on how to join are available on the Bo’net “About Us” page).
Duties include:
- helping set the charity’s direction and priorities
- ensuring Bo’net is well-managed and follows its charity rules
- supporting activities that benefit Bo’ness and its people
Committee members act in line with charity trustee duties in Scotland (laid out by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR)), which include acting in the charity’s best interests, managing finances responsibly, and ensuring transparency.
Further information on the committee member role is available on the Bo’net website (linked for your convenience).
- Events Volunteers
The organisation is also looking for people who can help with future events. Event volunteers do not need to live in Bo’ness, only be willing to travel to events in the town.
Volunteers help with tasks such as:
- setting up events and clearing away
- welcoming guests and giving directions
- handing out flyers or programmes
- helping with food and drinks
- supporting activities during events
Further details of the event volunteer role is available on the Bo’net website.
Bo’net Projects
In addition to its events, regular Bo’net projects include an online directory of local groups (linked for your convenience), and a regular newsletter for local groups (which anyone can sign up to receive). It has also successfully lobbied for a banking hub to be set up in Bo’ness, which was launched earlier in summer 2025, and has also helped deliver free audio guides and maps to promote the town.
More recently, Bo’net developed an online guide to help visitors check out the area’s Roman connections, and has acquired funding to deliver community safety initiatives.
