“Single parents often juggle more than most and at times the load can feel overwhelming. Whether you are a single parent or a practitioner supporting families, One Parent Families Scotland is here to help.”
One Parent Families Scotland (OPFS) provides a range of free and confidential support services for single parents across Scotland, “helping families navigate the challenges of everyday life”.
Single parents can access support in the way that suits them best, including by phone, email, webchat or message.
The charity’s Lone Parent Helpline offers practical advice and emotional support on issues including benefits and finances, housing, family relationships, mental health and wellbeing, and employment, education or training opportunities.
OPFS also provides a free, impartial debt support service exclusively for single-parent families. The service offers support with budgeting, repayment plans and formal debt solutions, alongside compassionate, non-judgemental guidance from specialist practitioners.
The team at OPFS aims to respond to all enquiries within 48 hours, and supports parents throughout the full process. Services are available Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 4pm:
- phone: 0808 801 0323
- email: advice@opfs.org.uk
- webchat available via the OPFS website
