Our Place Camelon and Tamfourhill will co-host a free online event, “Celebrating Communities”, on Tuesday 7th September, 10am – 12:30pm. Participants will have the chance to hear stories demonstrating the strength and skill of communities across Scotland, share how they have contributed and find out more about how to get involved in their local area. There will also be presentations from Denny Poppies and Centrestage Communities, and quickfire talks from 4 other diverse community-led initiatives. Booking is essential.

Online “Mental Health Champions” Youth Worker Training Course
Youth Scotland is partnering with Place2Be to provide online mental health training for youth workers (paid and voluntary) across Scotland. “Mental Health Champions – Foundation Programme” is a 5 week training course designed to help participants increase their skills in supporting young people and their mental health (especially during the current pandemic and its challenges). The course is flexible, broken down into 15 minute sections to fit around participants’ day. The deadline for registrations is Monday 30th August.
Support at Home Services in Falkirk: Online Survey
Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) has launched an online survey on their Support at Home services. Support at Home is a range of services designed to meet the different needs of individuals, including help with personal care, specialist care for people living with mental health conditions or learning disabilities, and support to care for a child or young person with additional needs (amongst others). The survey is open to people who currently receive any of these services, their family and carers. The deadline for responses is Monday 16th August.
Free School Uniform Event
From Me To You is holding a second Free School Uniform Event this Sunday 8th August, 9am – 4pm at Callendar Square Shopping Centre, High Street, Falkirk, FK1 1UJ. All items are free, and include school uniforms, bags and shoes. The event is open to everyone, especially those struggling to source or afford new uniform or school items for their children.
COVID-19 Protection Levels Update: Scotland Moving Beyond Level 0
Scottish Government has confirmed that, on Monday 9th August, all of Scotland will move beyond Level 0 of COVID-19 restrictions, as planned. However, some protective measures will stay in place, including masks and face coverings indoors and on public transport, by law (with exemptions in place), and the collection of contact details as part of Test and Protect. People are also advised to continue to clean their hands and surfaces regularly.
