The Hugo Burge Foundation’s Creative Communities Fund supports organisations, festivals, fairs, and community groups delivering culture and creative arts initiatives across the UK.
The Fund is particularly focused on activity which enables people to engage as active participants, rather than passive audience members, supporting regular involvement in creative and cultural activities within local communities. The Foundation takes a long-term, regenerative approach to funding, rather than supporting one-off projects. It seeks to invest in organisations in ways which help them become more resilient, effective, and sustainable. This means funding can be used to strengthen organisational capacity, develop programmes over time and support the delivery of meaningful creative opportunities which are embedded within communities.
Grants of up to £15,000 are available, with £150,000 awarded annually. Applications of £10,000 or under can be fully funded; requests between £10,001 – £15,000 must demonstrate at least 30% of the total project budget is secured from other funding sources (ie. match funding). The majority of grants awarded are unrestricted, offering flexibility in how funds are used. However, unrestricted funding is not available to organisations with salaried staff who already receive core funding from other major funding bodies.
The Fund is open to organisations, community groups, festivals, and fairs which are planning to develop and deliver creative and cultural activity anywhere in the UK. All funded activity must be delivered within an 18 month period.
Applications are due to reopen this coming Monday 1 June 2026, closing again on Friday 31 July 2026.
