Holiday Hunger Grants of £1,000 – £3,000 from Cash for Kids are available to organisations and service providers working with children and young people 18 years old and under, who are experiencing disadvantage due to poverty, the rising cost of living, and food insecurity.
The fund is designed to support projects which ensure children have access to nutritious food alongside positive, engaging activities during the school holidays, helping to improve health, wellbeing, and social outcomes.
Funding must support projects which address both food provision and activities, with a clear focus on encouraging children to eat more healthily and be more physically active during the holidays. Grants can be used to cover a wide range of eligible costs, including:
- nutritious food provided as part of a project or trip, play, craft
- sports equipment, activity instructors or coaches
- room or facility hire
- proportionate transport costs
- entrance fees for activities such as cinemas, play centres, zoos or farm parks
Residential activities for youth groups may also be supported where clear benefits are demonstrated. Tangible items such as food, equipment, and entrance fees should make up the majority of the application.
The final amount awarded is dependent on the length of the holiday programme, activities delivered, and required supervision ratios.
The fund is open to registered charities, schools, and community organisations with an annual turnover under £1 million, supporting children and young people with a genuine need for support.
Applications reopen on Friday 1 May 2026, closing on Friday 22 May 2026 (though this may be moved earlier if demand is high). Applications must be submitted via the Cash for Kids website (linked below).
