The Henry Smith Charity, now known as the Henry Smith Foundation, has launched its new 5 year strategy, offering flexible, long-term funding to support not for profit organisations dedicated to making social change across the UK.
“Elevate Your Impact (2025-2030)” will focus on 3 core priority areas:
- Getting Started (supporting families with young children)
- Building Independence (helping young people move into adulthood)
- Safer Futures (supporting people to rebuild their lives after abuse, displacement or prison)
New Funds
The first 3 new programmes within the new funding priorities are:
- Together We Begin (under Getting Started): funding in-home, face-to-face support for families with young children. “We will fund organisations that strengthen parenting, build parental confidence, and improve early child development; helping families feel connected, supported, and better able to navigate local services and opportunities.”
- Shout! (under Building Independence): helping young people be heard “when the world doesn’t listen. We will support advocacy services helping care-experienced, LGBT+, neurodivergent or learning-disabled young people speak up, make informed choices, and secure their rights.”
- Domestic Abuse Fund (under Safer Futures): backing “led by and for” organisations providing specialist domestic abuse services. “We will fund deep, consistent, person-centred services designed around the needs of people from marginalised communities who’ve experienced domestic abuse.”
In addition to these 3 new programmes and their long-standing programmes (including Holiday Grants), the Foundations has also launched the new Opportunity Fund to support early-stage ideas, test new approaches, respond to emerging needs, and strengthen leadership and boost inclusion across the third and community sectors.
Currently, the Opportunity Fund is invitation-only and not open for general applications.
