It was an incredibly productive meeting, and we’re glad to have been able to share the last year with you all. CVS Falkirk 2021 AGM
Bookings for the CVS Falkirk 2021 AGM are now open! Our second ever virtual AGM will take place on Thursday 25th November 2021 via Zoom. Attendees can login from 1:50pm, with the AGM starting at 2pm.
Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund Launched
The Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund has been established with £15 million allocated to support mental health and well-being in communities across Scotland. The fund aims to support adult community-based initiatives to help address the impact of distress and mental ill health caused by social isolation and loneliness, as well as addressing the mental health inequalities exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. CVS Falkirk will administer funds for the Falkirk and District area. We are currently working on the application process and will shortly announce further details through our e-bulletin.
FREE Yamaha Organ for Third Sector Groups in Falkirk
We have been approached by a very kind individual who would like to donate a Yamaha organ like the one pictured below to third sector groups in Falkirk. It is FREE to collect from the FK1 area, but is very heavy and would need some strong people and a van to move it.
Community Opportunities Resource Pack
In partnership with our team at CVS Falkirk, Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) has created the Community Opportunities Resource Pack, a new guide to community-led support in Falkirk, to make it more straightforward for people to get involved in leading projects and activities in their local community. The resource pack is designed to help whether you are beginning your journey in setting up a local group or organisation, or restarting after COVID-19 and lockdown, and is full of sample policies, templates and risk assessments.
Scotland’s Census 2022: Upcoming Teams Events
Scotland’s next census will be held in March 2022, conducted by the National Records of Scotland (NRS). They are holding online events, via Teams, on different themes for local groups and organisations, with information on how the census will be delivered, and how they can support people to ensure they can take part in the census. The next event will focus on Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) groups, and take place at 11am on Wednesday 3rd November.
Halloween 2021: Safe and Fun Activities in Falkirk
Our Halloween 2021 page is now live! The spookiest time of year is upon us once again and we’re delighted to see that, for 2021, COVID-19 restrictions have relaxed enough to allow the third sector and communities across the Falkirk area to bring back some much-loved indoor and in-person Halloween events, parties and discos – and of course the return of guising, or “trick-or-treating”! Some of our local people and community groups have again organised outdoor Halloween activities, so everyone can still enjoy the holiday safely across Falkirk.

CVS Falkirk and District look forward to welcoming members and guests to our online virtual AGM on Thursday 25th November 2021 at 2pm. This is a great opportunity to hear about what CVS Falkirk has been doing over the last year, the challenges of the pandemic for us and our members, while also looking to the future. Our guest speaker is Niall Kearney, Head of Third Sector Unit, Scottish Government. The presentation will be on the Government’s ambitions for the role of TSIs in the future, and the opportunities for the third sector to meet Government’s ambitions for Scotland.
FREE Cyber Resilience Training for Falkirk Third Sector Groups
Our team is holding FREE cyber resilience training for third sector groups and organisations across the Falkirk area, taking place via Zoom on Wednesday 20th October, and Thursday 21st October, Friday 22nd October. The training, delivered by our staff, is designed to be accessible to everyone, and not incredibly technical, but focused instead on human behaviour and what people can do. Making these small changes can have a big difference on your group’s online security. Our team will help you learn the cyber resilient behaviours and the tools you need to protect your group.
Bainsford and Langlees Community Action Plan Meetings
In a change to previously announced dates, Falkirk Community Planning Partnership (CPP) is holding online meetings and local in-person pop-up stalls to speak with local people in Bainsford and Langlees about what they want to see in their areas. The CPP is working with local community groups and residents to develop a Community Action Plan (CAP), which focuses these voices as key to the areas’ future. The first in-person stalls will be on Monday 20th September. Online meetings will take place the following week.
